Decided to stop "winning," EVE for a few weeks while i'm laid up and shoot some space ****.
150mil sp, 'bout 500mil in the bank. Probably looking at a t1 battleship with cheap t2 fit, but I'm reading up on the changes for ~3 years worth of patches. Anyone want to update me on what's hot? |

Could use a little bit more info on where you want to fly, what you enjoy flying, stuff like that. It's a pretty vague request. |

I hate to say this (because I'm a Rattlesnake enthusiast when it comes to carebear grinding) but you might want to hop into a Sentry Drone Dominix with a Micro Jump Drive. Some variety of this.
P.S. I say carebear with the utmost love and not because I have a filthy pirate soul . EVE deserves the best of both worlds.
P.P.S. The Rattlesnake is also going through a majorly contentious change. If you like any of the older ship models (original artwork) better than the redesign of your favorite hull and don't want them to be lost forever, support ship customization and this feature request. |

Has that turn of phrase gone out of fashion or is this ironic? "Winning EVE," used to mean stop logging in for a long time. |

The boring old raven is always cheap and moderately efficient L4 grinder if you don't want to do the drone meta. If you had more resources the nightmare changes look interesting. |

The rattler is semi ok, but the domi is old, the scope now stacks with omnis, so only use II, the sentry damage augmentor adds like 10-20 dps due to stacking penalty, and we have tractors, so you can go all the way with link augmentors to blap stuff @ 150km with ionic rig(s).
Something like this, stuff can be moved around, for example if you dont mind slowboating to gates, ab can be exchanged for sebo and rigs changed for repair ones (for a much deeper slowboating experience + 170km range), repair youll need mostly for missiles, thats why kinetic, can be changed to cheap faction membranes for t1 hardener bonus with no cap needed. The omnis help mostly with bouncers and curators.

there is something to be said for the trash can, although you do need good skills and it's a little more effort than a dominix. if you prefer pure missiles, a cruise raven will do it, for guns a beam apocalypse or arty maelstrom will do good.

Lasers are just as limiting in damage type as hybrids are, but their raw power can often offset part of the damage loss. An Apocalypse will do just fine in most cases (I consider it superior to Maelstrom), though it's sometimes a better idea to use beams than pulses (more TH damage on short range ammo against EM resist heavy targets). |

Actually, while hybrids do the same amount of different damage types (2) it's pretty much "rainbow damage" because the combo of kin and therm is pretty nice overall in most situations. Laser damage types are either really good or, most of the time, outright terrible. |

Yea... Hybrids are almost always hitting at least the 2 best damage type for an NPC. Kin is good enough against angels/Minmatar, Therm is good enough against BR/Sansha/Amar. And of course, Kin and Th work very well against serpentis and Guristas.
In contrast, EM and TH are very good against BR/Sansha/Amarr, Th is ok vs Serpentis/Guristas (although some of the high resist NPCs its wuite bad), but EM is terrible against Angels/Minmatar, and except for a few of them, Th is also terrible. |

Yup. I gotta jump on the Raven bandwagon. It's easy mode for 4's & can be fit dirt cheap & still perform well. I'd say sniper fit a Raven & then save up for a Navy Raven...don't really need anything else after that for 4's. My Raven fit was;
Ballistic Control System II ( x3) Capacitor Power Relay II (x2)
Large Micro Jump Drive 100MN Afterburner II Sensor Booster II (x2) Adaptive Invulnerability Field II EM Ward Field II Thermic Dissipation Field II
Arbalest Cruise Launcher I (x6) Mission specific Standard Missles Drone Link Augmenter I
Large Loading Bay Accelerator I Large Warhead Flare Catalyst I Large Warhead Rigor Catalyst I
Hobgoblin II (x5) Mobile Tractor Unit I Warrior II (x5) Salvage Drone I (x5)
May not be the fastest or best fit in the world, but it's cheap & blew away every mission I ran in it. The tank & combat drones are pretty much for the hell of it as most stuff died in the 100-150km range. Also hoovers up all the loot & salvage pretty nicely as well. So safe it's almost boring. You will want to upgrade to the Navy as soon as you can though for a nice damage boost. I fit my Navy practically the same way & it breezes through 4's. Now bear in mind I'm in Mim space mainly so not sure if there are any factors that would make for added difficulty in other regions. Also with better fitting skills &/or implants than mine I'm sure you could easily improve on the fit. |

So the general idea is to jump and then ab out of range of gurista, mordu and other missiles, constantly move away and snipe from 160-200 km? |

With my skills (which are kinda low atm, but getting worked on) my max range is only 155km or so, but that's it basically. Depends on initial ranges also. It does have decent enough tank that if not much is close I can often not even bother with an initial jump & just ab away from the enemy while blasting them. But yea; generally speaking can just jump away & start firing while keeping range with the ab. When done you can often just hoover up close in loot & then MJD jump or often direct warp back to the gate or start point you need to progress &/or hoover up the early wrecks. It does take longer to kill everything in big fights with the standard Raven instead of the Navy, but it does the job & is cheap as was requested. Also with better fitting skills or dropping some tank, you can probably drop a Power Relay & toss in a 4th BCS. That should boost kill speed a bit also. A lot of folks say use faction ammo; which also boosts damage a good bit. I'm just trying to save up my ISK though & find the standard does the job, for waaaaaay less ISK. Once (if) I get space rich I'll happily go faction, but sticking to the cheap seats for now. Also, once you get (or if you already have) t2 launchers, I'm sure t2 ammo will work fine & I believe it's considerably cheaper that faction. Will be shorter ranged, but with proper skills you should still be able to hit with furies out to 120+km or farther. That would be where a Navy Raven would shine also as its bonuses would help offset the furies penalties & make precisions unneeded pretty much. Just my 2 cents of course & I don't claim to be any kind of pro fitter or theory-crafter. |

I was just wondering how you shrug off the 600 base damage 150km scourge missiles that sometimes fly around without a booster or anything.
If you are on a budget, keep in mind that a loading accelerator probably gives you less applied dps than a rigor, especially against fast, small bs like angels.
People in general use tps with furys, cause they are considerably worse than t1/navy in application.

For missions i love the Raven Navy but its not the cheap ships i think u r looking for. Typhoon is great but tough on fits cpu wise. |
