tank armor or shield, not both. use the same type of weapons so they have the same optimal range. have a web on a rail thorax for killing frigates, and try and snipe the frigates before they get close too.
if the ship has 5 turret slots it should have 5 guns. Go down a calibre to achieve that if necessary. If the ship has a dronebay, you should have a flight of drones that maximizes the bandwidth in space.
if possible work either a tracking computer or tracking enhancer in as well.

Okay this fit has several issues.
1. You aren't using all your high slots. Go with 5 200mm Railgun I's 2. Double tank, lose the shield tank and fit your mids like this
Mid slot
Afterburner I Targeting Computer I - Tracking speed script Stasis Webifier I Stasis Webifier I
When fighting have your Targeting computer turn on, and put your webs on the target you are shooting. This will help you hit the smaller faster targets.
3. Improper Armour tank. Your lows should look like this
Low slot
Medium armour repairer I Damage Control I Armour Thermic Hardener I Armour Kenetic Hardener I Magnetic Field Stabilizer I
Switch out your hardeners for whatever damage you are facing.
4. Antimatter is good for short range, but you will also want to bring some long range ammo as well so you can snipe at ships as they come in.
5. You have a drone bay. If you have drone skills, put some Hobgoblin I's in the drone bay for increased damage.
Final fit should look like this...
High slots 5x 200mm railgun I
Mid slots Afterburner I Tracking Computer I 2x Stasis webifier I
Low slots Medium Armour repairer I Damage Control I Armour Thermic Hardener I Armour Kenetic Hardener I Magnetic Field Stabilizer I
Charges 1000x Antimatter M 1000x Iron M Tracking speed script
Drones 5x Hobgoblin I

Thats a better fit, however...
One web will do, a cap recharger is good for new players, as are CCC rigs. He can make more optimal fitting decisions when he understands why that fit works.
Also if really bad at missioning, the OP may not realise that he'll need also to own an EM and an explosive hardener, and to learn to check the mission description for the race type the mission is against, and to fit the appropriate pair of hardeners to suit that mission before undocking.

Yeah given the fit he shared, I kinda pinned him as a new player. I assumed he didn't have the rigging skills yet and the 2 webs are just my personal preference, but yeah if your cap skills are low a cap recharger will benefit you more then the second web.

Get a Gnosis, put two large shield extenders on it and jsut pew pew.

If you do not have skills for T2 mods - fit best meta modules, you can get. Correct way of doing L2 mission is to fit your Thorax with active armor tank and fly a lot, but with Gnosis even low skill char gets all bonuses and huge passive tank (compared to cruiser, of cause), that allow you to just sit back and do missions quickly

It doesn't take very long to work from L2's to L3's For L3's you'll be better off with a Battlecruiser, which generally use the same fittings as Cruisers
Use your time completing L2's to work towards being ready for a BC (it also helps your Cruiser, so it's a kind of win-win) Focus on DPS and Tank, Cap stability isn't required but it does help.
(Use Tech 1 modules if you don't have the skills for their Tech 2 counterparts yet) Training for these T2 modules will stand you in good stead for your entire pve career.

Medium Armour Repairer II Armour Kinetic Hardener II Armour Explosive Hardener II 2x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
3x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Progression to BC is below, you'll notice that it almost identical to the Cruiser fit, with just a little more DPS and Tank

Brutix for L3s? The Myrmidon would be better. OP, if you are training Gallente, train up your drone skills. |

Brutix make very good mission runners. The only downside of it compared to the Myrm is the ammo cost. |

not always not everyone likes to play the game the same way.
the point of my post wasn't about the merits of one BC over another
it was about looking ahead, having a goal and working towards it, whilst at the same time gaining a benefit from that before you've reached it.

It may be a matter of skills. The OP may well be better off running level 2's in an Assault Frig if he/she is better skilled with small guns or has mediocre nav skills.
This is a very common problem new players face- one can speed thru the early content faster than the ability to properly fly a given ship. Very quickly players find themselves able to access L4 missions but not field a full T2 tank or T2 weapons yet, and in many cases, missing core fitting skills that only become critical in large hulls with unforgiving PG/CPU stats.
Assault frigs can easily handle most any L2 you're going to bother accepting, and come with built in resists that help cover for mediocre tanking skills. Destroyers are another alternative as they also use the same guns that the frigs from L1 missions did.
Don't move up in hull size too quickly. As ships become bigger and more complex, their fittings become ever tighter. In low end content you might get away with fitting mods/rigs to make something work- but in higher end content every slot used for fitting becomes a gimp to your ship. It's much better to fly a smaller ship with solid core fitting skills, strong Nav skills, and meta 4/T2 mods than barely undock something bigger. |
