So I have a BPO for Gallente fuel blocks, material level 50. How much skill investment would it require for it to be profitable buying all the materials directly from market? I used a Blueprint calculator but something wasn't quite adding up. Most likely on my end since I am entirely new to manufacturing. I know the relevant skills, I was just wondering if it is a considerable investment skill wise before profits are made and maybe my time would be better vested in other endeavors for more immediate avenues of isk. |

Material efficiency at level 5 is the main skill to factor when it comes to manufacturing, get that maxed if you are serious abit it in the slightest, apart from that look for something with at least 10me
it looks profitable to me, though it highly depends where your buying / selling and if you use buy orders or sell |

At this point its all based on your costs of materials. Buy/build/mine at a low enough price range and profits can be decent. When i did build and supply fuel blocks i was making 3-4b a month profits. Buying the ice products from one person and building most of the PI myself. I also benifited from having a set supply amount. I needed to make X amount each month to fuel the alliance towers of blocks A and B.
My expirience is always to find someone to supply to ensure your profit margins stay decent.. Open markets can be a killer to your profits. |

Kellin Bauer:
I had relatively decent experience in the past researching the BPO itself and selling it at 40/20. The overhead in manufacturing the fuel, maintaining a POS, hauling back and forth, etc was too much for me. YMMV, but it is worth considering if you haven't decided to build them yourself.

I think ME40 is optimal according to 'Zofu'. I think the consensus is that there is profit to be made in making fuel blocks still. Look into making at least some of your own PI goods as it is a relatively passive activity if you can negotiate POCO tax at a good rate. Mining ice is dead boring though so you may decide to set up buy orders for your ice products. It isn't that much of an outlay in skill time so I would give it a go. |

The maths might have looked wrong because one run of a fuel block blueprint outputs 40 blocks rather than 1 block. If you check again with this knowledge it will make sense Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85 |
