Are there any tools to get around CCP's horrid routeplanner? Found a shortcut to jita last night through a wormhole...only 23 jumps. This morning it's 37 jumps back to the WH system. Pretty sure I have everything set properly in the map settings and there is no way to make it shorter aside from making a note of every system I traveled through.
Does anyone know of any tools that can assist in finding the absolute shortest route to a destination? |

Tell the autopilot route planner that you want the shortest trip, ignoring sec status. Rifterlings pirate corporation is now recruitng members for lowsec PvP operations. Newbie friendly, free T1 frigate and dessy hangar, solo tutoring and PvP classes for new members. Join our in game channel 'weflyrifters' and speak to a recruiter today. |

I've been playing since 2005 and have never had this type of issue, so I'm pretty sure there is some type of user error at play. Check your autopilot settings and system avoidance list. |

You know this is an interesting question because at times I felt the route planner was lacking.
It's possible to actually use the API of the game and get stats similar to what the in-game mapping tool uses. It's not that hard to use and once you see how it works, it's easy to see what Dotlan is doing.
What I wanted in my endeavor was a tool that bases a route on the actual statistical analyses of the systems over time, for example to draw on "empirical" data (I have trouble with the use of that word for this but there you go) in planning a route so that the prime times of ship/pod death or pilots in the system could be factored in.
From what I saw, it's possible.
But both fortunately and unfortunately at the same time, I have a job and could not get the time to put a program together for this. My snag point was in getting MySQL to read the database file that cross references the systems and the system ID such that when the API is tapped for stats, I can match the system to the data. My workstation is having MySQL issues.
If anybody else would like to collaborate on such a project, had it not been done already, I would be happy to help (have a lot of programming experience in Eclipse and VS).

I have set the autoplanner to ignore security status.
I also have been playing since 2009 and have always had this issue. I think it's something that most people would not notice but I have talked to a few other frequent travelers who have noticed it. It is most notable when taking long trips between highsec & nul. |

When I question the in game route, I use http://evemaps.dotlan.net/route to double check it.
Also make sure that you didn't accidentally put a system on the avoidance list. |

You are mistaken, my good sir.
But just for ***** and giggles, please name the system that is both 23 and 37 jumps from jita. |

Crap...I are mistaken. Was using the wrong end of the wormhole. Well I could swear I've had this issue in the past. Hopefully I am wrong then lol... |
