hey, i just watched a few vids with interceptors owning... well... everything My question is this: In one of the vids there is an interceptor (crow) shooting down a minmatar battlecruiser (Cyclone i think). Am i the only person who thinks this might seem a bit too powerful? that a tiny, but fast ship is able to "rape" a much bigger ship?
You might say "well, you should be fitting your ship to deal with them, but seriously, a frigate-size ship shooting down a ship of such size?
This isn't a rant in any way, i'd just like some kind of explanation to why this scenario was even possible to begin with. And should one train up for intereceptors to have a fair chance at pirating?
Thanks in advance.

Edited by: Sandra Tseng on 02/06/2006 12:07:22 Imagine yourself in an interceptor and you attack a Battleship piloted by a 5-year old Would it be overpowered if you won that fight?
My point is you could destroy a tank with a toothpick if you knew what you were doing and the guy in the tank had no clue what he was doing ;p

Edited by: AsfALT on 02/06/2006 12:10:27 Edited by: AsfALT on 02/06/2006 12:08:45 I pirate very well in my cruiser... with under 2 mil sp (actualy more like 1.5 mil sp)... so... no u don't need an inty to pirate properly.
This dose not mean that intys are not very powerfull ships.
EDIT: i killed battle cruisers (2) in a frig.. As the poster above said... if u don't know what u are doing u can get owned by almost any type of ships.

Any size ship can kill any other size ship if one is setup badly.
If a Battleship is setup for long range, a T1 frigate can pop it easy.
I've been attacked in my BC before by Inty's and T1 frigs while I was ratting. Each one left in a pod. If I didn't have Nos and webs fitted then I would have died. Minnie FTW!!!1 |

the thing with interceptors is that they are actually increadibly vulnerable. Especially against things like light drones. Most pvp in eve is 99% to do with how your ship is setup so if you are carrying a bunch of light drones with you it should be enough to make an interceptor run away most times as long as your tanks half decent.
So the point i'm trying to make is that theyr either the 'I win' button in a fight or theyr dead in a few seconds.

QFT, you only ever see the sunny side of ship classes in videos (unless they're constantly victims )

Inties have lots of punch but almost no survivability. Yes they can run away, but thats a win for you.
The best ceptor defences are a pack of light drones. It only means sacrificing one heavy drone for making most ceptors run like girls.

a pair of Medium Nosferatus or one Heavy Nos will leave the interceptor a dead fly ina pot... or something like that

Yep, most vids are closer to being exercises in propaganda than being an informative chronical of events.
Still, Interceptors can deal surprising large amounts of damage, and can evade damage like nothing else in EVE. Web and NOS combined is about the best way to deal with them, or kill them at a range where the transversal from their speed is trackable.

Inties rock.
Right until you fly into an 85-90% webber and scram and find yourself on the recieving end of an AF, or cruise using frig weapons (including assault misile launchers).
You don't see those fights in most videos.
Sure you can kill a BC in an inty (or AF), even a BS (piloted by a complete newb with no tank), but against anyone with some skill, you're done son.
