Discussing the interesting parallels between religious conversion and viral epidemiology in a purely academic, anthropological way isn't about belittling anyone's beliefs or insulting any person, it's about understanding the human condition better.

It's about belittling and insulting people when say, Diana Kim, compares the spread patterns of a plague virus with the spread pattern of Gallente cultural values, hurr.
That's when understanding the human condition goes right out the window, eheheheheheheh. |

Am I supposed to be impressed that you worship and serve this monster? Where I'm from, the word for people like you is "coward."
Obeying that which has the power to condemn you to unspeakable torture for all eternity is not "cowardice" but "common sense".

Obeying that which has the power to condemn you to unspeakable torture for all eternity and will automatically do so if you have the misfortune to have been born into the ethnic group it has specifically chosen for that purpose on the other hand, is not.
If your options are eternal damnation with no hope, or eternal damnation with an infinitesimally slim hope, then the common sense option is the latter.

I'd argue that common sense would dictate you do the latter regardless of your ethnicity, as the entity in question is obviously dangerously arbitrary and cannot be trusted to keep its word. Mane 614

Well, I can't think of anyone, not even the most crazed of the blooders and EoM or what have you, that would condemn almost the entire human species to eternal suffering given a little time to think about it. Even they, as deranged as they are, have some sort of principle or ideology that makes their actions a good thing to do. Create a better world through the destruction of the current one or whatever they wish to delude themselves about.
Even these people, the very worst of us all, are better beings. More morally and ethically sound beings, than this thing Naupilus there would worship. I frankly wouldn't care if I got a ringside seat at whatever resort he's peddling to the few that would slip through the eye of the needle. On general principle, I can't ever imagine that even with bulletproof evidence of its existence, that I could lower myself to lick the behind of something that's beneath even the least among us.
This is the absolute idiocy of any religion where even one creature, no matter how base and vile, would suffer for all time. Or even temporarily. It is worshiping something that's less than every last one of us.
Want something to believe in? Humanity's more than good enough for that. If some or even all of us fail in the end, it doesn't matter. We've done good and many among us will do even greater. This is something we do. Qualities innate to us. From digging in the dirt to dancing in the flares of a star, that's something to have faith in.
Perhaps the dirtsiders that named us demi-gods weren't too far from the truth. Prime Node. Ask me about augmentation.

I created this universe so all could live happily. Sadly, I made the mistake of giving you free will to go along with your emotions. Humanity isn't smart enough to coexist peacefully though. At least the ability to innovate through conflict didn't go to waste... The lack of money is the root of all evil. |

The entire point of the original post was in describing how a filthy sinner rose above the station into which he was born and became a Chosen of God. His salvation is now certain.

So it's a choice between no hope at all, a coward's slim hope brought at the expense of becoming the same species of monster, or the slim hope of the courageous. Gotcha. An in-character blog and a video: http://verinsjournal.blogspot.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu1mbsgo738

What better way to sneak into a slaver's bed chamber and murder them in their sleep or during the throws of passion? I too might temporarily pledge allegiance to the false god in order that I might spite him and destroy an entire family of slavers. Most likely the matar brother next to him was some scum turned into a willing footsoldier for the slavers and in need of being dispatched.
One freedom loving Matari has just fooled his oppressor; killed an awoxer, and is plotting his next move.
Sounds super. Tell me more about how this goes.

Slaver is just a profession. Maybe you would like to do same with, for example, secretaries? Or, I don't know, with accountants?..
Down with this sort of terrorism, really. |

How could she not? It's pretty much the only thing slavers and sympathizers have left to retain a veneer of legitimacy in New Eden. Equating themselves with businesses, justice systems, ordinary men and women and such. If they do it often and loudly enough, the lie comes that much easier to the lips of both their own and even their enemies.
Some even believe they're people, rather than the scum of the cluster. Prime Node. Ask me about augmentation.

Or Fedos, noone cares about them anyway, right?
The point is, slavers deserve to be punished, or even better, humiliated. That would be nice to capture one and turn him into a slave. Then, perhaps, pack him into one of those deathcans and jettison it into the open space...
No, that's inhumane, of course. Should just blow him up, or pass to the authorities if they care enough.
