Hello everyone so I had just finished my first day of E.V.E online and had a great time so far except for the fact that I seem to have gotten stuck on a mission and i'm not sure where to go from this point. I guess I better start from the beginning:
After finishing the opening tutorial with the AI she wished me good-luck and I was shown the different Career Agents and I decided to take up exploration. Now the first quest was rather simple, turn on my basic scanners, fly over to an anomaly and grab the proof document that I succeeded. After return the man was so ecstatic and seemed to have high hopes in me that he just handed me a ship upon accepting the next quest.
Here is where things got a little funny though. The mission is called "An Introduction to Cosmic Signature." Upon reaching the destination I saw a few of these signatures in the distance but found I couldn't approach any of them or even warp to them yet.
I turned to the help chat after pressing every button I could imagine to help me and the extent of my advice was "Use your probes!" Which I didn't seem to have. Or "Use the AI Tutorial, it'll help more then any of us are able to." Good point except that the AI had wished me good-luck already. Although I did discover by going to Help>Tutorials>Exploration I could open up a tutorial for what I was doing. Awesome!(?)
The AI told me that they equpped my ship after the last mission with a "Core Probe Launcher" and 8 "Core Scanner Probes." I searched my whole ship, and my beginner ship, I checked my entire personal assests and to no avail did I see any of this. I figured something had to be broken here, I must of missed a quest or something?
So I decided I'll just purchase these components from the Market, and so I did. I scraped up the very last of funds while selling any random things I could to JUST buy 8 drones and the launcher. But who cares, due to my frantic running around I knew the man had promised me an extra 100k if I finish the mission in another 3 hours.
So after going back and screwing around with the probes for a good half hour I finally figured it out and successfully scanned one of the Signatures. I moved in and approached it. A lady informs me that now I need to Hack it with my data analyzer (which I apparently should have equipped to my ship).
Uh oh not again.
Upon searching the market I did find what she was mentioning for a reasonable price (but still out of my reach at this point). And upon further research I found that I require certain skills just to use the analyzer.
I'm very confused on where I go from here, I assumed that this was still some sort of tutorial quest (although they didn't give very clear instructions that your suppose to search the market for all these parts so I could be wrong). I even went back to the AI tutorials and to the hacking section, although the AI is mentioning "You should fit the Civilian Data Analyzer you recieved in the last mission." I definitely know I didn't receive that either....
Sorry for such a long post, but does anybody know where I should go from here? I can't really progress in this quest and I'm beginning to feel its more advanced then I assumed. Should I start some of the other Careers in the meantime just to get some extra cash to proceed in this one? If anyone can give me a hand it'd be greatly appreciated! |

You should do all the career agents.
If you think the missions were bugged, F12, file a support ticket and ask for the missions to be reset. That said, I redid those a month ago and definitely got all the stuff I was supposed to. Read the mission text carefully, read anything that you're told in popups, some of the items iirc you pick up in space (you're clearly told to do so)
You don't need to buy anything for the tutorial missions, everything gets provided to you. Check ship cargo hold, check station hanger. Use the Assets window (looks like a safe) to search for stuff. |

Check your assets again. The tutorial mission agents or Aura should have given you those items. The quickest way to check would be the assets button on your neocom (the left side of the screen).
In the event that somehow you did not receive the items you need (the tutorials can be a bit fucky as I recall), you can definitely just run missions from one of the other agents to get a little isk, then come back to that one. You should run all of them anyway.
Remember than when you buy these things from the market, you are buying directly from other players who have set the prices based on demand. Often you can get a better price a few jumps away by filtering the market buy orders according to price. www.everevolutionaryfront.blogspot.com

Thanks guys,
Yeah no worries I definitely checked everywhere. My own ships cargo, my ships fittings, my personal assets at every different item hangar but nothing. I'll take both your advice and submit to see if they'll reset it while doing the rest of the Career missions in case I do need the ISK. |

Not sure what happened, but I kind of doubt it was a bug. I'll run over and do an exploration career agent and see what it's like - not familiar enough with them off-hand to be able to tell you much. "Help, I'm bored with missions!"

Okay, exploration mission 2 actually does provide you with the modules you need - they're just not provided until you get to the mission pocket. The first room has a container with a probe launcher, 8 probes, and civilian data and relic analyzers.
There is very little to the mission - you just fly through some gates and read a few blurbs from a guide about how it all works. "Help, I'm bored with missions!"

^^^ What SurrendrMonkey said. ^^^
Sounds to me as if you didn't bother to read the mission briefing. I don't want to sound harsh, but if you approach missions like that you will have a very hard time in EVE. |

Wow, thank you very much!
Oraac- You shouldn't assume I didn't bother to read the briefing, I've been doing my best to read everything thoroughly.
Surrender-, I did properly read through the details of the mission, and upon arriving at the pocket nothing had happened. After getting the probes myself and moving towards one of the signatures did it actually begin to move the mission forward.
Regardless it seems that I was able to get the mission reset and dialogue from Rulie Isoryn is now properly showing up which I assume was glitched.
Sorry for my incompetence, thank you for the help everyone! |
