I'm trying to do the Sisters epic storyline, and halfway into killing some rats in a mission the Amarr navy showed up and killed me.
Mostly what I've been doing is exploration in Minmatar space, but I felt like revisiting this storyline. Apparently my standing with Amarr is now -5.51.
I've always found fiddling with faction standings to be one of the weakest and least thought-out parts of this game, but losing my cane to faction npcs on a cross-faction epic takes the cake.
Any help on how CCP intended this to work, and how I can repair my faction standing enough to be able to complete this arc? |

From -5.5? imo not worth the time to repair it just for the lvl1 soe epic. Faction standings make sense, just like you would have a hard time being in FW for long and then decide to go into enemy empire just to do some missions, you can't... well not very easily. EVE is partially based on empire conflict after all, and killing empire npcs makes you an enemy to that empire and their ally, then a friend to the opposing empires.
If you loose your standings, really that is your doing, players work around that well enough by not accepting those missions that damage faction standings. Even participating in FW it can be done, as some do, and just not shoot at faction npc's but at players. Generally, that arc is for new players, or vet players looking for a challenge such as using a underclassed ship. I suppose needing to fight faction npc's all the way thorough Amarr empire space could be considered a challenge... |

-5.51 with our without the skill diplomacy? if with welp, time to grind, if without pick up the skill book and train it until your effective standing is greater than -5, should only be a few levels. I'm -5.53 with someone and diplomacy (level 3) brings that up to -3.66 You can trust me, I have a monocole |

Well, you could go run the SoE Epic Arc to boost those Amarr standings.

Hrmmm... or not. Didn't you get a message about being an enemy of the Amarr Empire or some such? Maybe you missed it? Move along! |

Get a clean clone and use pod, NPC navy won't pod you, but players might, hence clean clone :)
Then use either alt or a friend to complete missions, move around in pod and take missions, fleet your alt or friend and then use warp fleet to warp him to location to do mission in hostile space....

Yeah I suppose that would be the best way to do it w/o the extra challenge thing. You could maybe even hire a newbie to be your gunner. I think you just need to be the first one in to get the mission credit, so they warp in after you.

All together SoE can bring you enough ISK to buy cruiser and rigs for it, so those 20 mill ISK isn't that much, its being done for standings primarily.
But, person who has the mission gets the mission reward and standings, he can choose to share those when turning mission in (but only corp standings get shared, faction ones can't be shared)
For bounty, the game auto splits those, but you need to be on grid when ship is dying, not sure if it works in pod, could be you need other ship then pod/shuttle like in incursions, but really not sure

Do the arc on a different Char and share the faction standing gain at the end of it.
It was still working 2 months ago, so chances are high that it still works now despite the fact CCP said it's a bug and fixed and blablabla.
Once you did that (with Amarr standing as a bonus), you can continue on that char :) |

Yea, from what I know and tested multiple times, there is no way to share you faction standings between fleet members
Source: I know a lot about standings :D

This is all the info you need to help your situation. Of course the very first thing to do is train up the various Social skills as outlined in 'The Plan'.
The Level 1 Sisters Of Eve Epic Arc is a great way to help balance out lop sided Faction standings since it gives you a choice to complete it for one of the 4 main Empire Factions. Also Faction standings can't be shared so being fleeted with someone else doesn't work.
DMC
Edit :
I also know a thing or two about Faction standings.

I'm naturally a completist and it was bothering me that I couldn't finish this up cleanly. But with a friendly dose of perspective I think I can now knock it off.
Thanks all for the help. |
