Afternoon all. I'm a returning player to EVE but never got that far on my first play (Had recently bought a Caracal), however a friend who Gordon Gecko's the markets most of the time has offered me large quantities of ISK to come back.
I don't want to miss crucial aspects of the game, but are there some activities I could try where i could get a better experience in starting with cash? (I can see mining might be one) |

EvE has many different aspects you can get involved with. If you have money to burn you could buy fancy ships to play in, or better modules from then. I suggest joining a corp run by players doing something you fancy, for example, PvP which can be in high, low or null sec.
The trick is finding an activity you enjoy - only you can determine what that is :) ISD Arooga Captain ISD STAR (Support Training and Resources)

Thanks that's good to know, PvP does sound fun.
I just don't want to be too much of a flash idiot and waste cash. Could someone advise a good ship class to learn/enjoy pvp in? |

I suggest NOT buying fancy ships, but buying many many cheap ships. Then go get them all blown up until you start to blow things up yourself. (Edit: By this I mean frigates. In the faction warfare areas of lowsec there are a lot of people flying frigates to pick fights with. If you find you have quite a lot to burn you can spend it on a few cruisers for kicks).
Other options are exploration, market trading, mining, hauling, scamming, missions, and suicide ganking. www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com

Well, moderately fancy ships are fun. The special edition Heron recently offered for new subs is rather sexy.
PVP is an activity which definitely requires a lot of backup ships. Depending on how much ISK you have, you can fit a fleet of T1 frigates, destroyers, or cruisers and learn the ropes for PVP. PVP probably won't be profitable for you for quite a while though.
If you're interested in making money, you could always reinvest some of it in station trading. The good thing about station trading is that you can make make an alt for it in another character slot while continuing to do missioning/PVP/etc on your main character. If you want to get outdoors more, you can buy and sell from region to region. If you're lucky enough you can make over a hundred million ISK from one trip.
As for mining, that's more of an investment of time than money. Quite frankly, mining is one of the worst sources of income in the game (ISK/hr) and I only pursue it when I want to watch Netflix or something else while I make ISK. |

Give suicide ganking a try - you're looking at a few million for a T1-fit catalyst and there are plenty of AFK miners, autopiloting shuttles / frigs out there to rack up some fun kills. No, your rights end in optimal+2*falloff |

Unless you're an isk hoarder, having too much isk is only good if you can spend it having fun. Although I see that some might find mining fun, I don't believe it is an activity were you will be spending much isk (eventual ganking asside)
You can also spend lots of isk in an expensive ship and fitting but chances are that it will end in tears if you lose it and can't replace it.
That being said, the most recommended option is to do what others have already recommended. Haul some T1/T2 frigates to a low/null sec system or nearby them and have fun blowing up yourself and others
Of course, have in mind that eventually you might need to replace some isk if you lose more than you win. So it would be smart to invest part of this money in an activity that might fund you in the future (mining, PI, market, etc) |

Buying a bunch of decently fitted PvP ships and not giving a damn if they get blown up is probably going to be the most fun thing, although it's unlikely to increase your cash. Trading is probably the best bet for increasing your windfall, assuming you don't fall prey to a scam. Best bet on that end is to buy and trade generally low cost items.
But for the love of God, if you have been given free ISK, stay as far away as possible from the Market Discussions sub-forum. Move along! |

No..no..no, we should encourage the OP to leap into a green and purple fitted pirate BS so that we can kill him, and get him featured as an ALOD over on TMC
Seriously though +1 to not flying fancy or officer fit ships unless you want to appear in an amusing killmail or blogpost.

When you say large quantities of ISK, are you talking tens/hundreds of millions, billions, or tens of billions?
I would suggest different things in each case.
If it's tens of millions, buy 30 or 40 tech 1 frigates and go looking for fights.
If it's hundreds of millions, buy a mix of t1 frigs and cruisers and go explode them gloriously.
If it's billions or more, do the same (buy frigs and cruisers) and lose them, while also looking for ways to permanently set up ISK revenue to fund more in the future. I'm worth about 50 billion ISK, and a look at my killboard will show (among some embarrassing small to medium losses) that I often fly gank Vexors. They only cost 22m or so fitted (so I could afford 2000 of them) and they can get some hilarious kills. But while I am doing that, I'm also generating ISK through tech 2 production, trading and market speculation. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=346564 - a proposal to overhaul the Logistics skill https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. www.minerbumping.com - ganking miners and causing chaos |

in general, humans tend to enjoy spending money on others. you could find yourself a few space buddies to fly with, then organize and bankroll events for them (like a trip into wormholes, an internal 1on1 tournament etc.).

Blow stuff up and get blown up.
No matter how much ISK you have you can find a way to spend it all in EVE. Start to generate a steady flow of ISK even though you are flush at the moment.
There are many players out there that get a bit uneasy when their balance is below a billion... yes billion, with a "B". I wouldn't consider someone flush with ISK until they could finance a full fleet of the largest ships in the game. It's somewhere in the trillions of ISK, and yes those players do exist. |
