Though, is there any way we could get pan-to-target back as something that a person might do on purpose?
And that's really only a very small part of what needs to be done in the realm of camera control.
I'm going to disagree with all these folks, though. You did a great job. Please go back to what you're doing and keep playing EVE. If you worked on EVE full-time, we all know you'd end up like those hopeless squares in Team BFFs.
But maybe we can do this again sometime.
When I reviewed the auto-pan functionality, I found several broken cases. Sometimes it would never auto-pan to a target, even if you hovered deliberately. The delay was also huge, which personally gave me the feeling auto-pan wasn't related to the target icons. Sorry to those folks who actually knew the tricks to make it work. It was fairly broken anyways, and it seemed cleaner for MOST people to just remove the feature.
So I'm guessing this won't be fixed?! This is a big frown... Now I'm going to need to manually set look at other targets :( Otherwise I'm just staring at my ship.
Currently, I can just hover the mouse over the 1st locked target spot and cycle guns. I get a nice view of the target. When it pops ... Just cycle gun hotkey and watch the next Sansha melt.
...No chance on getting a options toggle for the current operation? You know for those of us using and enjoying it as is?

Team Papercuts seems to be tasked more towards improvements that generally have a practical use and while it has some small merits, it doesn't really serve a practical purpose when you can simply zoom your camera in with both mouse buttons already.
I doubt they'll implement the feature, much like some of my suggestions, because they're for a small niche of players.
I would, however, like for them to respond about my suggestion for fixing the broken drone controls. Giving commands is a serious pain when they keep dropping orders, and it's a very well-known problem amongst the Gallente pilots in particular. |

Checked into this real quick and we do have a precedent for interacting with objects via bookmark with station bookmarks allowing you to Dock. The problem for your request in particular is that bookmarked wormholes don't actually seem to be bookmarking the wormhole itself. It seems to be creating a generic bookmark at the location of the wormhole instead.
I suspect it has to do with the nature of wormholes disappearing. I don't know the bookmark system at all, and 5 minutes of poking around didn't reveal anything in particular.
I would recommend adding this feature request to the new small things thread. This would be a really good future papercut. |

This - but make it a proper padlock view option with keys for On/Off, Next/Prev friendly/enemy etc. (like every other flight sim in existence already had from the start)?
Might be very little work to modify the old behaviour (or might not) - are they already out of time for changes now anyway?

CCP Anthelios - Awesome job on the drag to link in chat consistency, needed for a long time. Market quickbar awesomeness with fittings, I may actually use that feature a lot more now. Drag selecting, yummy! And rearranging target Icons!!!! WTF, you are a God sir!
CCP Space Cadet - Orbiting ranges based on ship type! W00t!!!!! I LOVE this fix. No more rotating my view to a ship I happened to hover over, Damn, that's been bugging me for a while (YEARS) now. And keeping those pesky bays open when I dock the Orca is pure, unadulterated WIN, baby!!
CCP Booster - I have no words, my friend. You have just implemented the things that make the boring part (salvaging and looting) of Mission-Running, and cleaning up after a large PvP battle soooo much faster and easier. You are my hero.
CCP Soulblighter - What a great fix for us CEO's and Directors (not this toon, obviously). unrenting offices in far away or dangerous space was always a hassle. Thanks for a great idea implemented! And jump bridges, Yay!
And to the whole team on the last bunch of fixes - THIS IS WINNING, Winning the hearts and minds of the eve players.
Undoubtedly the BEST Devblog ever posted by CCP about Eve. Yes, the features are all small, low-hanging fruit, but to BORROW 4 guys from the WOD team and get this much done in three weeks!!! OMGWTFPWN!!!
I will not be unsubbing any of my four accounts over THIS expansion. Thank you CCP, Thank You Team Papercuts
I will go home and cry now, because it's still a week and a half until it's on TQ.

Fracking amazing!
CCP keep these guys!!
How about renaming bookmarks on right click, why must we go through the menus!
Pretty please! Repair Drones should be able to repair anyone ... really, they should. -áThink of them as the first targetable subsystem if you're worried about PvP and for missions if someone wants Rep drones over a flight of Hobs, who cares. -áThere is no reasonable objection here other than it's always been that way (so was RR until recently). |

Sorry to those folks who actually knew the tricks to make it work. It was fairly broken anyways, and it seemed cleaner for MOST people to just remove the feature. With this feature gone, is there a way to "look at" something without resetting the camera? My problem with the current "look at" box is that I can't figure out how to get the camera back where it was before, rather than just reseting it to very-close and then needing to manually adjust.
A better solution might be a "quick look" button on the overview selection panel: hold down your mouse on the button, and you get the same functionality as auto-pan. Release, and it immediately reverts back to whereever it was.

Posting to confirm that this team is awesome and things like this are incredibly awesome and improve the EVE experience so much more than seemingly flashier things.
I am actually more excited about the features in this devblog than I have been about the last two 'expansions'. Keep range per ship is a dream come true.
Much much love.

Also, have you ever been flying along, and your camera randomly rotates to something random off in the distance? You probably hovered over a target icon by accident. That feature is gone now. No more random auto-panning to targets.
I am begging you to rethink this. The fix for a feature should not be its removal. I use this because it provides a cool angle to watch my battle, or whatever it is I'm doing. There must be another way... |

Vincent Athena wrote:CCP, you most likely noticed the large amount of goodwill in this tread. The Team BFF efforts had the same reaction, fixing these little things had a big effect. But Team BFF seemed to get re-focued on bigger stuff, and the papercut fixes got lost, until now.
I think Team Papercuts needs to persist and be a permanent part of the CCP organization. Any Dev can sign up for a 3 week stint in it. They go in, do fixes that can be done in 3 weeks, then go back to their normal team. Make it say a three person team, one of which is replaced each week from the sign-up list. This way we get a continuous stream of these little fixes. After all, they seem to have the biggest impact to the player base.
This^
...and especially the bolded text to help keep the 'papercuts' changes fresh. I'm sure every dev that plays eve will have a different focus and ist of gripes they'll want to address, this idea will help no-end with distributing these changes throughout the player experience.
+1 team papercuts: team papercuts, best team!

Bloodpetal wrote: There's sometimes a bug on sisi currently which obstructs you from picking up another players drones if they're still "connected" or think they are, have you QA-ed that this doesn't obstruct players from picking up other players drones in space?
I'll try and test it.
Daedalus Arcova wrote: Currently on TQ, if you recall your drones but warp off before they've reached you, then you'll still be linked to them even though you're off grid. They'll still just sit there, but if you return to grid you can give them commands again.
I don't know if that was a bug or feature, but I suspect this might be what is preventing you from scooping some drones that look like they're abandoned.
An update on this issue: Thanks to both of you, we have tracked down and can now reproduce this defect. The fix should be straight-forward, but we want to ensure it doesn't cause unnecessary fallout. Because it's a more of an annoyance rather than a game crushing issue, we won't rush out the change until after Crucible is released. This will give us time to properly test it.
Again, thanks for the help! It's very much appreciated.

go go Team Papercuts.
P.S.
CCP, my faith in you as a company has been restored without question. Little gripes about the Naga not having Torp launchers lingers, but that's small potato's in comparison to all the great work you've done on this expansion. The nebula look amazing, the new tier 3 battlecruisers are outstanding. All the little fixes and improvements are astounding. From the anchoring timers to the long needed blaster buff, you've knocked it out of the park on this one. May we look back on this expansion with the fondness of Apocrypha.

Let me get this straight. Someone brought up a point, and you quickly looked into the possibility of implementing it? Shut up! (as my younger daughters might say) I am floored by this team and its incredibly quick response. Even if your team disbands right away, I strongly urge you guys to do this again in about 4 months, to see what else you can do.
This is the way all good companies with excellent employees respond. I look forward to seeing what else you get to do in the future. Thanks.
