Hi Ulises and other users above 10.6.8 that are still experiencing trouble with "Play" doing nothing in the launcher,
Could you do the following for me and report back?
1. Right-click on your EVE Online application and select "Show Package Contents". 2. Expand Contents. 3. Expand Resources. 4. Right-click on your EVE Online listed under Resources and select "Show Package Contents". 5. Expand Contents then MacOS. 6. Open a Terminal window and type CHMOD 700 into it, then drag "cider" from your finder window into Terminal and hit ENTER. 7. Expand Frameworks and repeat step 6 but with the "wineserver" file.

Ive tried running three clients on my MBP, doing a mining OP. I'm having issues. First, I get short freezes. They last from a few seconds long to about 2 minutes. The entire computer freezes, UI, clock, everything, except the mouse pointer.
After a few of these happen, graphic anomalies start showing up. Ships turn white. Stations turn yellow. When selecting a station, the "dock" button is just an empty square. After docking, the background is black and item icons do not show (although I can still interact with the items). I have done a bug report.
I am going to set all the clients to "optimized for memory" and see if that helps. A shame if the new cider client means I have to look at a ugly game. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

That is unfortunate, Vincent. Would you be so kind as to submit a bug report regarding it and I'll have a chat with everyone here? Graphical QA Analyst | EVE Quality Assurance | Team TriLambda |

Bug report submitted, but under the name of an alt on another account (who I will not name in an open forum). I'd tell you the bug number, but I cannot figure out how to view my report. Has that functionality gone away?
Oddly, when I tried to take a screen shot, it showed me the results as a blank page. I assume its another bug, but I do not know if the bug is a screen shot was not taken, or it just was not shown to me. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

No bug filed yet, because it was only a quick check, but it looks like high-resolution textures are still broken in the character creator. They look much better in the CQ, though.
I got the weird jittery whole-screen animation while slowboating in space, too, as if I was in warp. Ships also look much better, and yay blinkenlights.
Glitches notwithstanding, this is looking like a major upgrade. It's much smoother and much less taxing on my hardware.

From a stickyed thread in this forum;
"We have received a number of reports where Mac users receive the following message upon trying to run EVE after downloading the Mac client:
"EVE Online" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
Currently Gatekeeper does not recognize the EVE Online Mac app. This message is a security measure, but you should be able to run the app if you right-click it and select Open. You can also go into System Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> General, and set "Allow applications downloaded from:" to Anywhere, which will avoid this coming up again for future downloads.
This is not the only reason for the message, but it has resolved the majority of cases. If you are still seeing the message after trying the above process, please file a technical support ticket."
Also: When you (or anyone) tries to reinstall, also try deleting the Eve Online folder in application support. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

You need to go into your preferances to switch your settings. Go to prefrances, then Security and privacy, then General then 'Allow apps to be downloaded from "Anywhere"'.
Then it should allow the EVE client to be opened. You can change it back the settings btw since it will recognize EVE.

Ok, so with the security set to 'allow apps from anywhere' I can now get into the launcher, but the launcher just hangs.: the window has appeared as expected, but when i mouse over it goes into a spinner, and I cant select to type my username or anything in. I'm not being maxed out on cpu, and theres tons of memory free.
Nothing is 'happening' - the bar at the bottom which usually goes across checking the patch, just isn't.
I had also wiped my application support folder to give it a full re-install.
Any other ideas appreciated.

On an aside: I don't quite understand why the app is not signed by an 'identified developer' though - my understanding (and forgive me if I'm wrong) is that you only need to pay a $50 fee or similar to be able to sign apps for macs. I don't like (in general) having to drop down to un-identified apps. Chain-of-trust type security applies. |

First the current problem: the launcher is broke (no two ways about it) so I went to the resource file and launched from there and it worked fine last night. This morning the laucher is still broke, and now from the old login screen I get "new build" I click yes and it tells me it was damaged and I can't log in. I spect considerable time yesterday downloading the patch, then spent 4 times as long updating to mac os X 10.9 something, then even more time once the launcher broke, getting rather tired to be honest. We need a fix that works and keeps on working. Work arounds that last for one log in is silly. I know you are trying but please find a solution. |

Eve launcher shows Tranquility Status (Green) and Online Pilots Client launches, then the blackscreen with white connection bar fils Then it takes a little bit and then I get following message: "Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
Next to the above I also tried launching the "app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app" same results.
I had no issues launching Eve before the Kronos patch, now I have a skill queue dead in the water for 36+ hrs
Strange thing, while on the launcher I see Tranquility status and nor of online pilot properly, on the client only "server:Tranquility" shows, next to status it keeps saying "unknown".

Hi Tom,
This isn't something we've come across internally. Do you employ any firewalling or internet security software that may be blocking the updated client?

I am going to set all the clients to "optimized for memory" and see if that helps. A shame if the new cider client means I have to look at an ugly game.
Update: Optimized for memory did not help, I still get hangs. It does seem to be correlated with other internet activity. The more you do outside of eve (web surfing, etc.) the greater the chance it happens. This is similar to the big lockup bug we have had for years.
Except after this morning's patch I tried again and it did not happen, despite running 3 clients while web surfing. Was there an undocumented change in this morning's patch that could have fixed it? http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Things Ive found that seem to help reproduce the bug:
Keep using the computer. Restarting the computer seems to help prevent the bug from popping up. Longer it's been since a restart, the more it happens. Move items between ships and an orca, or other fleet hangar, while in space. Doing a mining op is a good way to see this bug. Other posters here say moving a freighter about with a cyno chain can do it too. Stream something from Youtube while playing.
Even when doing all this, it can be awhile between freezes, like up to an hour. That may be why I did not get one this morning. I was only on for an hour and just got lucky.
The ultimate: Have a torrent running in the background. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Ok, so now Im at home and can properly fill out the data.
Mid 2009 MBP. 2.66 Ghz intel core 2 duo, 8gig ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 mb 10.9.3
The launcher when run opens, its white for a few seconds, then renders the page. The bar at the bottom is white, and does not progress to yellow. The application is marked as 'not responding' in the application list. Top tells us theres tons of memory, and the CPU is not going too crazy (no fork bombing at least).
It then does nothing. I must admit one time, it went to validating client and got to 10%, but i hung - i left it for some time (30 min(?)) and have force quit and re-opened several times. I generaly leave it 10 minutes or more in this state before kiling it and opening it again.
Tried various things, like rebooting, running with nothing else open, etc. Nothing has helped.
Very frustraited - third day, still paying on multiple accounts to have no skill in training. Not the first time this has happened post-patch. |

I had no issues launching Eve before the Kronos patch, now I have a skill queue dead in the water for 36+ hrs Strange thing, while on the launcher I see Tranquility status and nbr of online pilot properly, on the client only "server:Tranquility" shows, next to status it keeps saying "unknown". Thanks for helping me out here... TT
I have Tom's issue: "Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
