Hey everyone.
I have spent the last couple of hours messing around with running/quitting multiple clients based on the suggestions of our partners so I wanted to update this thread with my findings.
Firstly, I took the precaution of again ensuring that the crash occurred for me when I quit one of the multiple clients, which it did.
With that confirmed, I navigated to /Library/Application Support and found the EVE Online folder and deleted it to ensure that when I created some clones I had fresh, default settings.
After that I grabbed our Clonemaker tool from here and then followed the instructions here to create multiple clones of my TQ installation.
Since then, I have had 3 clients running at the same time then quitting randomly from different scenes without any of the other clients crashing, and by looking at Activity Monitor (Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor) confirmed that there were an equivalent number of "wineserver" processes to active EVE Clients.
I would really like people to try the above, especially including deleting your "...\Application Support\EVE Online" folder.
I would also like to draw people's attention to the other methods of setting up multiple clients listed here if this Clonemaker method does not work for you.
I must state that I have not personally tested the other methods there, and if you do try them out I would strongly advise deleting any existing clients and settings folders and try it from a fresh install so that everyone who tries has a baseline to work from and compare.
Please let me know how you get on! Graphical QA Analyst | EVE Quality Assurance | Team TriLambda |

It can work for quite some time before you get crashes. I haven't been able to replicate it consistently but deleting all your settings again is a total PITA (we can't even use garpa to manage settings on OSX) and not really going to help if you already had to do it once for kronos. (I couldn't even launch the client without doing this initially - it was infuriating)
It has got to be a leak of the shutdown signal to other processes in some manner. There is some weirdness with window focus that can occur multiboxing (particularly on login - try having a client running opening another instance of the same one while and log in, continuing to interact with the first window) which could be related.
Far more likely is it is related to having the 'resource caching' graphic setting enabled and cutting the connection to that cache hits both if they have some shared resources. Anyways, deleting settings doesn't help its just more pain. I miss my market quickbar... Apprentice Goonswarm Economic Warfare Consultant - Drowning in entitlement and privilege.-á |

I have same issue if I use ESC -> quit game, but if I use X (windowed mode) and use Quit game from popup, it works just fine for me. Been using with 1 to 5 clients at the time, thought heating issue if any sort of action with 5, 3 works pretty good and heat is the only issue this far with 3 or below.
using late 2013, i7, 16gb 15" mbp, cant remember the gpu but think it was NVIDIA 750 2gb or similar with 2gb, 10.9.3 os

I bit the bullet and heeded CCP Sledgehammers advice. I've trashed all the application support folders after doing a backup first... Since doing this I've been doing the setup of the ESC menu options for 7 accounts. Had no issues logging out and getting lock ups. Also the clone maker 5 created clones that didn't give me an immediate cider crash any more. I've not had a single cider crash for things like logging 4 accounts in at once... or a triple undock from Jita. So it's a pain - but at least i can start playing again - was on the brink of giving up. |

I can replicate it consistently now it's got nothing to do with the settings.
To not crash you need to have another application higher in the priority cue for alt-tab.
To replicate
- Open eveclient1
- Open eveclient2
- Alt tab so that you are switching between the two with no other application in-between
- press cmd-q on eveclient1
- watch in horror as eveclient2 crashes
To not crash
- Open eveclient1
- Open eveclient2
- Open some other application
- Alt tab so that you are switching between all three
- press cmd-q on eveclient2
- as long as the other application gets window focus as you close eveclient2 eveclient1 does not crash

Seith Kali - you may have a solution for multi session lockups then... but it would have still left me inundated with cider crashes. I have had none since doing my change. Although it's a pain - I prefer system stability ;-) I also don't have to get in habit of focusing windows - it works for whatever sequence of account I've jumped between. |

CCP Sledgehammer. It took me about 4 hours to get a first cut at getting the UI setup again across 21 alts. I expect to tweak these more in the coming days... It was an extremely tedious thing to have to do. And I'm somewhat alarmed when I think about CCP's intention to do more minor releases rather than the occasional big one. Does this mean I'll be needing to do this again come July 22nd with the Crius release - or any minor ones before that? Or is it only when cider changes that I will need to repeat this process? Source of concern: http://www.ccpgames.com/en/public-relations/press-releases/article/77322/kronos-first-of-upgraded-eve-online-development-model/ On average 10 releases instead of 2 per year! |

Darn.... still getting issues... Crashed between gates.... console indicates cider: detected buffer overflow. I got a pop up - but not the usual transgaming overflow one I used to get pre-Kronos - just asking if i wanted to send crash report...
The popup said: Assertion failed at address 0x000b:0x91b55952. Would you like to create a crash report? (which I did)
At the time this occurred it was the only Eve session I had active. Subsequent to that when I try and launch the cloned app from the dock I get messages com.transgaming.EveOnline Exited with code: 1 in the Console and game fails to start. Reboot fixed this - I suspect there were streams/ports etc left unopened from the crash causing this.
The old pop up - I got before on 16th March 2014 said: Transgaming C Runtime Library Error -> Buffer overrun! |

Confirming that Seith Kali's fix works for me. Followed these steps: 1. Launch client A with launcher and login. 2. Switch accounts in the launcher, launch client B and login. 3.Click on local window in client A (is Jita local, easiest way to be sure client hasn't hard crashed is if chat channels keep scrolling) 4. Click on a non-Eve software window, like jabber, to bring it to foreground/focus. 5. Click on Eve client B to bring it to foreground. 6. Quit client B. 7. Jabber window is now in front/has focus. Eve client A continues working normally. 8. Profit!
I don't use alt-tab because I use windowed mode with two monitors, so I can't comment directly on that. Should be the same mechanism though, as long as quitting one client hands focus to something that isn't an Eve client, all will be well.
Also to Eric Agerwal: When you make a copy of the client with Clonemaker, you need to change one small thing inside the new copy so that it properly recognizes a different folder inside Application Support (those instructions are in the wiki page on mac multi boxing). With that done, you shouldn't need to trash an existing Eve folder in app support. If there isn't one Eve will make a new one for the clone, and you should be able to copy the original support folder into the new one. Only time you should need to trash the client clones is when cider itself is changed, and even then deleting the Eve folder in App Support shouldn't be necessary. Kimimara Yoga: I know a lot of things changed in the settings for Kronos in relation to Audio. I suspect the upgrade didn't handle clone maker and multiple alt setups for the launcher - I had tried both.. So perhaps certain settings didn't have intelligent defaults or weren't correctly initialised, I think this may have been CCP Sledgehammers reasoning.. |

Eve client appears to be spawning too many processes and locks up intermittently.
2014 Mac Book Pro, 16 gigs of ram, 2.3ghz core i7, 512gb ssd, OS 10.9.3,
The only way to fix it is to force quit the program. I notice when one client shuts down, properly or otherwise any other eve client that was running locks up. I can only fix it by forcing the client to quit by killing the process. There are background processes left behind that never shut down sometimes so I have to go kill those too. |

So far so good. I've tried this and for two days no crashes when I'm logging out. Hopefully this will continue. Probably the most difficult task was trying to find the Application Support folder as Apple has that hidden as default. Thank you for the update CCP Sledgehammer! |

I've never had a problem with the launcher, on Windows or Mac, until yesterday.
The Mac Launcher completed updating but doesn't launch.
- Tried the "open apps from anywhere" thing. (Why does any developer think intentionally reducing security settings to launch a game is acceptable?)
- Tried deleting the EVE folder in App Support.
- Tried launching directly from the app file.
Nothing works. |

I think the security thing is a slippery slope myself... Cider/Winserver/Wineskin i think are open source projects - The windows emulation occurs thru these. Afaik - CCP doesn't control the source... I had actually emailed CCP Sledgehammer a similar question... What precautionds does CCP take to ensure cider doesn't contain any malware? I said this in light of the buffer overflow messages... I actually tend to get them after reinstalling Mavericks co-incidentally.... Only happened the once so far since doing an OS/X reinstall from recovery partition... But alas I never got a response as yet. I know CCP has partners who help them with the Mac support from chatting with CCP Sledgehammer. |

I've noticed the days remaining on a plexed account sometimes differs with an off by 1 error, when you compare the login alt selection screen to the in game one. The latter is correct! Was wrong pre Kronos too. I filed bug report iirc too. But no update as yet. |

Why not all 3 dropping if something was wrong! I say this because the sessions become unresponsive... They either never session change... or don't proceed to respond to the d command to warp to gate. At the same time typing a phrase in a chat window is accepted first time. Second time it just buzzes. I have to force quit the apps.. Not socket closed pop-ups, but maybe this was impatience on my part! I am having similar issues since Tuesday update. I took it a bit farther and instead of force quitting right away I waited for second Hulk to engage 4 empty cycles into Orca, this means the client was frozen and unresponsive for minimum of 12 minutes, which for me this over 32,000 m3 of ore forever lost and not gathered even though showed the miners active, but my other two accounts there showed it's mining beams inactive the entire time. Like you it wasn't all my accounts it was just the one client my other clients running just fine. I am not sure if they are trying to fix the reliance on Clone Maker for Multi-Boxing, or just random glitches from the server updates, but I hope the situation improves. I spent a total of 5 hours mining and across the 4 accounts I was running at once, 1 on Windows PC, and 3 on Mac Client. The one on the Windows Machine never once experienced any type of issues. The 3 on the Mac about once every 30 to 40 minutes 1 or 2 of the accounts would freeze. Never all three always 1 or 2. It is a sad day when a game runs more reliably on a Windows PC than it does on a more stable Mac OS X 10.9.3. The Windows machine is a Little 14" laptop I normally just run the Orca driver from since it has the least amount of work once in the asteroid belts. I switched to Mac 5 Years ago to avoid all the constant updates just to have a decent game machine that could handle my gaming desires. It would be nice if like Blizzard, CCP would abandon Wine and develop a dedicated Mac Client much Like Blizzard has done with its MMORPG World of WarCraft, along with Star Craft II and Diablo 3 that all run native Mac OS without an emulator, and those games look so much better on a Mac than games from other manufactures using Wine. |

A native Mac client is a large undertaking, one that they haven't been able to afford for 10+ years. I think a couple of million in private funding is about the only thing that will make it happen. |

I suspect it would have been a less risky undertaking than World of Darkness... They found funds for that... I would be interested to see how Mac vs pc sales on the Blizzard compared.. I think the fact there aren't many native supported Mac games would actually make it a market with less competition and since Eve is already an established product that makes CCP revenues it makes sense. It seems CCP have to work with 3rd party to get cider emulation working.... You'd think CCP could perhaps get some backing from Apple too... |

@Horrendous Haddock and ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCING NO AUDIO since the Kronos update:
Can't 100% guarantee this will work for you, but I've solved this issue by using Soundflower (http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/) to create a virtual device and route the first two channels of my ProFire 2626 into it. I highly recommend you lot give it a shot :)
Note to CCP: You guys reckon this is an issue with multichannel sound cards in general? I don't know exactly how these things work, but would an option on the Audio tab of the menu allowing selection of audio output device/channel be possible? There seem to be drop downs for input/output for voice chat, whereas the game sound appears to be automatically routed to the default playback device... |

Hi guys, I just downloaded and installed the latest version of OSX and have had the same issue as a lot of mac users, this being EVE online won't launch.
The reason for this is due to the "default" security settings in brought in after osx 10.8. I have tried all the other workarounds and fixes but nothing works. after a few hours on google i found a site with the info i needed.
http://osxdaily.com/2012/07/27/app-cant-be-opened-because-it-is-from-an-unidentified-developer/
In order to change the security settings you need to do the following:
1) Launch System Preferences from the Apple nú+ menu 2) Choose GÇ£Security & PrivacyGÇ¥ and then click the GÇ£GeneralGÇ¥ tab, followed by clicking the lock icon in the corner to unlock the settings 3) Look for GÇ£Allow applications downloaded from:GÇ¥ and choose GÇ£AnywhereGÇ¥ 4) Accept the security warning and allow You can now launch any app from any location or developer
I hope this helps other mac users.

UPDATE: after running the game for a while routing my audio through Soundflower, I noticed a high-pitched tone (I'm a sound engineer by trade, so things that sound even slightly like feedback really get on my ****!) I suspected this was to do with there not being a recent update for Soundflower to give Mavericks compatability, so looked for an alternative - it's a bit more rough-n-ready in terms of interface, however JackOSX (http://www.jackosx.com) works a treat & I would recommend giving that a shot if Soundflower gives you trouble.
