Although in truth even that was only the icing on top of the greed-is-good-gold-ammo-cake.
Pretty sure the reason for the meme "MonocleGate" was infact about monocles, and them being overly priced and a obvious cash grab by CCP. CCP's Motto: If it isn't broken, break it. If it is broken, ignore it. Improving NPE-á/ Dynamic New Eden |

Why bother removing something years after people have stopped getting angry over it? So that you can bring ALL of the prices in the store into line with your new (lower) pricing scheme... without burning people that spent a lot on those items. This actually works to give those that did spend a lot even more value for those items, which is actually a good thing. The uproar if they had simply lowered the price would have been outrageous. I'm seeing a false dichotomy here. Why couldn't they have just left them as they were? "Pretty much all 14 of the CSM were in favor of a drone assign nerf for OBVIOUS gameplay reasons" - Sala Cameron

Because why not? Its a potential cash flow for those who want to play dress up, or make their alts look like space *******.

Didn't those people (me for example) pay for the Artbook, Boardgame, the Orchestral Soundtrack etc. etc. rather than the Tattoo?
Oh, I'll admit, the Tattoo, the Cybernetic Arm and the pirate Eye-Patch look nice on me, but I'm quite sure that the Sleeve Tattoos weren't supposed to be exclusive, more a bonus on top of all that other stuff...
Could be wrong tho and somebody paid 150Gé¼ for a sleeve Tattoo... Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

CCP has publicly stated on several occasions that CE preorder bonuses were not exclusive items, merely early releases. I believe they even said so on the sales pages (where it details what your purchase gets you). I really dont get why there are so many color variations of most of the clothing items available, yet none of them are available on the market.
Some I believe to be exclusives from the book recently published. Still it wouldnt account for all of them.
I really dont know why CCP has to torment people who are into dress-up. Why do they have to dictate what color shirts I can wear? DAMNIT! |

I literally sold my monocle for some extra isk a couple of hours before the Kronos DT. Then I see that it's been removed from NEX store and realize that my entire EVE experience has been ruined. Acquired new monocle on market for 2b. Experience restored. |

I really like some of the new items, finally it feels like the store has clothing that's distinctive enough to consider purchasing.
But I don't like the New Eden Store compared to the NEX. NEX was more functional, and it didn't full screen you out of the game. |

I'm fine with some vanity items, but I'm starting to get the impression that just plain old "more customization options" is never going to happen in this post-Incarna era. I want to go to character creation and just see more clothes, more hair, more everything. I don't have a problem with the store, but it seems like they're using that as a channel for ALL new customization options, which I doubt anyone's happy about. |

This has peaked my interest.
I wonder if in the future some of these cosmetic items (including the ones that were recently "removed") will be on a "cycle" of availability in the NES. Some other games out there do this to ensure a demand for the items is present when they are subsequently released again for purchase and the previous stock is sent back to the "vault." So, we may not yet have seen the last of the monocles and the other coats and pants and whatnots in the Store.
Regardless, I hope we see more cosmetic clothing, accessories, tattoos, etc. added into the market. I think they're a cool part of the game and certainly have potential. I like collecting them and the rarer they are, the better for me.

Production costs were simply too high for a responsible business. You know, every virtual monocle costs 150$ to make now due to the economy crisis, and each was handmade, plus shipping from China, ... Hilmar would have had to sell them on to the players for 200$ per piece. And he couldn't do that. He's too much of a responsible, respectable business man for that.
