I don't know if anyone has ever thought of this but what if a bunch of players in cheap Frigs went to Jita and started bumping pilots with low sec ratings. You could arrange to do this to protect a hauler from being targeted as the pirates will be too busy (and annoyed) being bumped around by a bunch of Frigs. Worse case scenario is that the pirate(s) get so annoyed he/they fires upon the Frig(s) which would mean Concord blows up his/their expensive ship while at most all you would lose would be a couple of cheap Frigs.

Or you could just...
Tank your indy
Hide your cargo
Get a scout
Not carry billions in the only ship that can be destroyed in this manner.
Use instas/nanos
Ues a tech 2 indy
Use a frieghter
Not use hub systems.
Not travell AFK
And about 67 other options that I'm to lazy to type for the 100th time that are no brainer, easy to use ways to avoid the gank.

I said it was A solution, not THE solution. I think it a creative one too.
Or maybe I think it be real funny to see all the pirates in Jita get bumped around by little Frigs.

I didn't even know this was a "problem". Most of these ganks sound like the EVE equivelent of someone carrying around a clear plastic bag full of gold bars and then being surprised when someone runs of with it.

Welcome to our nightmare. It's a hellish world where people seem obtuse to things like logic, reason and, good sense.
It's not all bad tho we have a purple hippoking, blue robots and chick that named her self after a WW2 fighter. We also have b33r and boobies.

Lorth is right .. its really really not hard to protect your cargo ...
Only thing I still can't seem to do is to Hide the cargo in Secure containers or in Plastic wrap either. I tested it last night and someone with a cargo scanner could always see inside anything I had in my hold.
Not an issue though Bader II's can fit a lot of mid slots = a lot of passive resistance and Shield extenders ...
Als just don't AFK through Jita ... thats where all the camps are so its not really hard to avoid.

so far best solution iv found for hauling anything expensive is avoid raiseing your sig radius, and fit a cheap prototype cloak. iv retreived starbase parts from inside 0.0 warzones useing this. a blockade runner is still idea and this doesent work on freighters, but its effective, just one more of those 60+ soulutions! if u are just afk traveling on untanked t1 indy with billions of worthy stuff even, u wont really die to random suicide kessies gang of up to say, 5-6 kessies.
The guns pwn agressors too quickly to even complete one firing volley.
Only way to really gank ships in empire with 4-5 kessies is in belts, where CONCORD responce is slower, and sometimes u can even get 3-4 volleys out before CONCORD gets u!! ------------------ If you are tired of fleet combat lag, post HERE

Use instant bookmarks to avoid them. Its SO easy. I think most of the victims of suiciders dont read these forums though, so they have no reason to expect to be ganked in "safe" empire if they are new. As usual, information about the game is key to survival.

I think one thing that would dry this issue up fast would be to cancel insurance payouts if you die by Concord.

Hmmm, that would be the ultimate way to deal with it and something that I can agree with...but I don't see that bird flying. It is a proverbial Dodo.

That would only be logical and even fair. But of course this mechanic too has to cater to them evildoers

Well I wasn't actually making a whine thread on high sec ganking. Nor was I even suggesting that "a solution must be found" (though I like the insurance suggestion). I was merely putting forth a single idea, a single tactic, which is to go bump the pirates around in small inexpensive Frigs. Now as a pirate, if you knew everytime you went to a certain system and hung around a station, that a bunch of little Frigs would come and annoyingly bump you around, well you might think twice about going to said system.
Essentially this might be a way for the good EVE citizens to use the game dynamics (for a change) to their favor. Impose a "No Loitering" law. It's an idea.

There are people out there that waste battleships to get at what some people carry in industrials. Losing a 100mil ship + fittings and not getting any insurance is nothing if you are going to scoop a can worth several times that amount.
Empire ganking is part of the game and is part of what makes EVE interesting. Adapt or die tbh.

Empire ganking is fine. But gankers shouldnt receive any insurance doing illegal kills in > 0.4 systems. Crime pays, that doesnt sound right, does it? ---------------- RecruitMe@NOINT!

Remove all customs officials, then it will be easy to transport drugs into hi-sec, these 'suicide' pilots will be able to get their daily drug fix and all will be right with the universe.
Nerve sticks and Frentix for all, and Crystal Eggs for a select few, but whatever you do, dont take the blue pill. =============================================

I think this thread is more of a whine about empire gankings being possible rather than whether it's right that 'your friendly insurance company' should pay up if concord gank you for breaking the law. I take your point though. I'm not really fussed either way, it'll still happen.

I firmly believe 1.0 sec space should be as safe as possible for new guys in the game. And i believe it is (now CCp can come up with alsorts of protection but nothing is 100% secure) as it is all space is deemed risky from 1.0 being the least risky, if someone looses 100's of millions in precious carge , how the hell can they be considered new players?
Stop whining and play within the mechanics of the game , dont afk fly whilst in eve (how many times is that advice Given)
fly expensive cargo in ships that cant be insta - popped like blockade runners , and tougher ships.
As for the real noobies starting off its a good lesson to show that no space is safe from ganker or pirates, if it happens learn by it , adapt and overcome - thats the true essence of Eve. As they is no place u cant be mugged in real life , there is no place in eve where it cant happen to you, all u can do is adopt some common sense ( u wouldnt carry a wallet through the streets of a city with all ur worldly assets in would you)
Oh and u flamers feel free to flame , im not agreeing with high sec ganking im just pointing out that its Eve , where life is hard and NO WHERE should be considered 100% safe.

lol, that wont help against 0.0 resident, who dont really need the insurance to cover even 10 lots fully fitted frigs, or 1-2 T1 kitted BS if they really want to gank something big. ------------------ If you are tired of fleet combat lag, post HERE

I admit, I'm already getting a bit paranoid, too. I'm afraid to fly my covert ops afk in high-sec even if I've got nothing in my cargo, because with the actual covert ops cloaking device prices, some nubs might try to gank me just for that. ---------- If you don't like my spelling, I can also write it in German, if you prefer that. ;) |
