Some common complaints by new players:
1. It's hard to find a corporation that is active when I am. 2. It's hard to find a corporation that has active membership.
The recruitment in-game tool allows players to enter criteria for a desired corporation. The tool then matches based upon the criteria and displays the top results. In order to help address the above complaints, I have the following suggestions for improvement.
Matching by Play Time
The tool has a concept of play time matching, where the seeker indicates his activity time (e.g. 18:00-24:00). The tool will return the top picks based upon the various criteria and corps that match this play time interval. Unfortunately, the tool seems to only consider positive matches. As a result, any corporation ad that indicates activity from 00:00-24:00 matches upon anyone's criteria for game time.
A suggestion for improvement: Match both positive and negative matches.
For example:
Corporation A indicates 00:00-24:00 and a seeker indicates his/her play time is 18:00-24:00. This would result in a positive match of 6 hours, but negative match of 18 hours. In other words, only 75% of the corporation's indicated activity occurs outside this seeker's game time. That should not be a strong match.
Corporation B has indicated their activity is 15:00-22:00. Given the same seeker criteria, the result is a positive match of 3 hours, negative match of 3 hours. In other words, 50% of the corporation's activity occurs inside the seeker's game time.
Corporation B should match higher than Corporation A.
Matching by Activity Indicators
A system generated indicator that shows the activity level of the corporation members. In order to provide some level of counter-intel, this indicator would not consider the seeker's game time criteria (only the criteria specified in the ad).
For example:
A player is seeking a corporation and 2 corporations return as highly matched. One corporation has active members, the other does not. An indicator (scale, color code, whatever) would give the seeker an comparison to determine which corp is more active and thus allow him/her to make a more informed decision.
