Disclamer: A thousand pardons if this subject has already been posted.
Scenario: I'm a new player who has made over ONE MILLION ISK within a month. I've upgraded my frigate from a Reaper to a Slasher and purchased the highest amount of insurance. My clone has also been updated at a level above the current amount of skill points I contain. One week later, someone destroys my ship and then pods me. I'm resurrected in my new clone, and I receive the amount of insurance I've paid for.
Here's the problem: When I get killed, do I lose all of my ONE MILLION ISK? If true, is there some sort of a "First National Bank of Eve" that I can deposit my money and withdraw it later when I'm in my new clone? Or do I need to create an alt character ahd make him my banker, transferring funds from time to time for safekeeping?
I've never seen the subject of retaining game credits mentioned anywhere in Eve - not in the tutorials, not in any Eve-related website, nowhere! I've even posted this question in-game and the game masters themselves didn't know.

ISK is all electronic. You never lose it unless you give it away.

Nope, you donĘt *drop* your isk if you die (lose a ship or get poded.)
The down side to dieing is the fact that insurance does not pay for your clone. Does not pay for the mods you had installed on the ship you lost.
So any money you do lose well be to buy a new ship buy all the mods and what you need to make those mods work (ammo charges and so oną) As well as to buy a new up to date clone.
One other way you can "lose" your isk is if the guy who shoots at you ransoms you and really you donĘt lose the isk you kind of pay him not to blow you up.

All ISK is electronic. If the manuals don't say anything about losing it when you blow up, that probably means that nothing happens to it.
So yeah, your ISK is perfectly safe. If the GMs didn't "know" the answer, then it's probably because they either don't play the game, or were confused by your question.

Pretty much everything has been said here.
However, I would like to add that there are in fact a few player run investment banks that are popping up all around EVE. You can take out loans and keep accounts that accumulate intrest.
There are two (very) trustworthy ones around. Unfortunately, I can't remember their names right now. It shouldn't be too hard to find them on the forums, though.

Edited by: Ehker Gerete on 13/06/2006 04:02:15 You guys forgot one thing
If he, for some reason, has a million in named fittings on his slasher then he'll lose a million trying to refit it exactly
but im guessing he had unnamed t1
ISK sinks from losing ship: t1: the cost of platnium insurance, assuming you always have it. just add the cost of the modules t2: more or less the ship cost, plus modules. t2 insurance is unbalanced on purpose.
edit: slasher not rifter
oh and grats ojn your first million. but its going to start growing a lot faster.
good to see youre not behind or anything. the amount of isk considered poor, rich, and average depends on age. right now 1-2 million is perfect for a month old frig pilot. you can afford some named frig mods, and stull have reserves
/me goes back to struggling to break 20m
and then you have the vets with 20 billion isk. --------------

There are very few with that sort of isk in reality. Most of it is in assets since many players buy so much that the amount of isk they have is quite limited. I have had up to 200m at times but now I have only 15m (just bought another BS + fittings) but around 2.2 billion in assets.
