I'm somewhat of a new player and wanted to try Incursions so I'm in the process of training up to fly a logistics cruiser,so I can give it a go. However I've been reading up on them and I notice that in the higher ones if I don't broadcast for rep as soon as I'm yellow-boxed, I'm going to take a lot of damage,if not be popped very quickly. However I sometimes miss seeing that I'm being yellow-boxed as my eyesight is not as good as it once was,so can I run Incursions without this,or is there any way I can improve my overview settings to make being yellow-boxed stand out more? |

It's primarily assault and headquarter sites where broadcasting is required for vanguard sites you wouldn't need to broadcast. You could possibly change the window/background colour to enhance the contrast between the overview and the background to make rats yellow/red boxed easier to see.

This is a major issue, and will keep you out of the high-shiny, minimum tank fleets. It is not, however, game over, nor will it force you to only ever run vanguards if handled properly. Things can be done to mitigate this issue.
First, make sure you have your overview and broadcast history close together. If flying a scimi or oni, these will be nearly the only things you need to see in a site, and keeping them together means you have a good chance of noticing everything you need to even with bad eye-site. Basi and guardi need to watch the cap chain channel as well, but this is usually static or called out on coms. Second, set up a tab with only hostile NPCs on it to use to watch for yellow boxes. This cuts down on the clutter and again reduces the critical area to watch, increasing the chances of picking out the yellow boxes. Third, set up color coding to your broadcast history. This will make broadcast identification easier and again allow you to spend more time focusing on your own survival (watching for aggro, keeping up velocity etc.) Finally, changing your shield alarm setting to 95-98% will make it go off on the first volley landing. This is the last line of defense, and is almost always consider fairly darn late, but is almost always survivable by fleet design, as aggro occasionally swaps straight to red box or hits someone who lost aggro but not NPC lock again.

Might be possible to set up a custom overview mode that only shows rats - that way, there's no non-rat clutter, and hopefully the yellow boxes will be easier to spot without having to scroll through things. Yeah definitely, if the FC and the logi's are aware of the possibility one of them can lock you up full time (For providing links, as DPS or cap as a basi buddy) and that will alleviate most of the problem.

This is the sort of thing that an FC should know. Some level of either inattentiveness, panic or slow reaction is expected in first time incursioners and is a major reason training communities run much more tank than shiny communities, but it sounds like this may go beyond that into something worth telling an FC.
While important, this is information that is more important for a fleets LC (if present) than FC, and sub-critical provided you have set up backup alerts and aren't in a shiny community. That means wait for a calm moment in coms or use fleet chat. Don't be the special child who feels the need to PC the active FC, poke with stuff that only pertains to you, etc. Their are bound to be other players who have other issues ranging from excessive inebriation to being one handed. the game has a sound effect for when you're being locked, doesn't it? assuming it does, could you turn that way up using the shiny new audio options? |

Changing your UI scaling to 125% may help as well, simply by making all of the UI elements (including the yellow box) larger. "Help, I'm bored with missions!"

If your doing an incursion as a logi pilot you will generally have other logis doing a cap chain with you. This means two things which saved my hiney a few times....
1) A logi has you target locked already so throwing reps on you is way faster than for anyone else. 2) You should be in the watch list of the logi bros (generally logi pilots have themeselves in the watch list).
Even if you broadcasted early enough it is no guarantee you wont go pop. Watched it happen the other day with a scimitar. He broadcasted and for sure i had 4 overheating reps on him with drones and he went pop (My alt was in a 4/2 basi). Not sure why it happened but it did. |

@OP:Fit some tank and you'll be fine.

Hasn't stated a desire to be logi, and true only of basis and/or guardis (and their T1 versions for those crazy enough to let them fly)
Quote:1) A logi has you target locked already so throwing reps on you is way faster than for anyone else. 2) You should be in the watch list of the logi bros (generally logi pilots have themeselves in the watch list). This presumes that other logi don't just throw up cap chain and forget it. This presumes that other logi are looking at watch list. Relying on these, especially in a situation where one logi might die, is bad.

It takes some work to lose logi ships that are catching reps. If this was a VG site, it would have to have been a 5 romi spawn with him not moving and zero tank. In other sites, likely an issue of not moving fast enough. I have flown every site in incursions with a DCU only scimi and never once gotten close to losing it.
