Everyone knows what a smartbomb is, but only few uses 'em and only for killing drones, maybe insta podding. Maybe the time has come to develope more in this direction and create ships that are only for smartbombs ...
As everyone is aware, smartbombs are using alot of cap and cpu. Pg in bs class isnt an issue. People arent fitting smarties, cause they have limited range and "firepower" and the worst thing is that you cant kill bs's with this. But who wants ? Maybe the time has come to create an ultimate anti frig, cruiser and bc , bs.
This are my recommendation , what should be done with smarties: 1) create dmg mod for em 2) create range mod 3) (?) create a new bs class specialized only in those weapons ?
And there won't be any whining cause those would be only 0.0 ships + in some situations in low empire sec and you'd still hit your gang members if they'd be in range. So what do you think about it :D ?

Smart bombs can be fun to use. A while back I posted a smart bomb only BS setup for missions. It worked well.

Not sure about a dedicated Smartbombing ship, but I would defeinitely like to see both skills and modules that could improve these weapons' efficiency like with turrets and missiles.

As a smartbomb fan myself, for both PvP and PvE, I can say that the damage of smartbombs matters far less than the range of smartbombs. 20km are overkill, and below 7.5km there are next to useless. Heck, imagine the chaos with a long range smartbomber with MWD and all plates instablasting in a fleet battle! --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

Not really. Balance is when a ship is given a bonus and you have fitting problems. Caldari is given rail bonuses but I am sure we will have grid problems. So it makes sense to have a Tier 3 Gallentean Smartbombboat.  ---------------- RecruitMe@NOINT!

That, and they need to loose the friendly fire attribute. I am not using them for fear of a mission object not being flagged properly or some hidden lurker, which would have me Concordokken'ed.
And for the love of the allmighty spaghetti monster, CCP, change that name! There's nothing SMART about them unless SMART stands for "sub-standard mountable area ridiculation technology".

i think even you can agree that galante are the drone race, and that they fight the caldari mostly!
well u dont think it would make sense for the caldari to get a smartbomb ship to kill them pesky drones?

I went flying in an 8 SB Apoc the other day and got into a fight with a BoB Blastathron at close range.
Unfortunately a friendly local showed up to help me out and got podded by me for his efforts - first time the poor chap was podded in two and half years playing and then losses it to an ally o_0
Anyway a few more ships turned up and the BoB Mega headed for the safety of the gate where my Smartbombs wouldn't work. How I wished I had my guns then as he sat out the aggro timer and jumped :)
Seriously I think smarties can do with improvement and particularly a range extension to 7.5/10k so that they have a useful role in fending off Inties with 2 points of 7.5km scramble power. ------------------------------ Hardin's Blog

let us smartbomb gates and stations and we'lll call it even  sitting ont he gate with a smartbomb running is THE FINAL solution to all those pesky shuttles on insta
anyways, i love smartbombs. one time i fitted a moa with medium smartbombs and ganked a shuttle. I felt proud. ---------

Got a sb question.
As someone who hates inty ganks, what are the usual inty orbit ranges, and are they in range of a BS smartbomb?
second, if they are in range, can you instapop them with a fully loaded set of normal smartbombs?
/me gets exited at the very thought

My thought is that if smartbombs are "smart" enough to avoid popping cans they should damn well be smart enough to not pop your allies or drones.

Well large SB range is 5km
Inty orbit range is usually further out than that if they are being careful. With 7.5 km scramblers there really is no need for inties to get any closer... ------------------------------ Hardin's Blog

I'd like to see some smartbomb attention, make them a useful secondary weapon.
All out smartbombing Battleships have occasional uses, but they are just that ū occasional, especially when everyone just orbits at >5kmĘs and laughs at you. Oh and since the RmR boost, you can't even pop a pod with one unless you get a second hit off 
If they boosted damage/radius I wouldn't care if they were no longer smart - make them as dumb as they come, blast everything in the area.
My biggest gripe though is the craptacular effects; they used to look awesome, with fully scaled explosion radii. Now itĘs such a tiny explosion you miss it half the time..."Wtf? why do my drones all have red bars?"

and what do you think about adding smartbombs hardpoints and boost 'em so they will be used by a very dedicated ships and specialized more than interdictors :) ?

I love using smartbombs. When gatecamping, most cruisers and below are gone in one volley of 7 named smartbombs. Those who do not kill us are stupid and must die!!

You've never used smartbombs, have you? Sit outside the little range thing on the side of gate people come in from, and pop them as they warp over you.
