Not a big fan of its sequel series AO but it was alright. "There will be neither compassion nor mercy; Nor peace, nor solace For those who bear witness to these Signs And still do not believe." - The Scriptures, Book of Reclaiming 25:10 |

Just gonna mention the newer series as everyone else have covered most the obvious older must-watch.
Kill la Kill most definitely. Whilst there is a lot of "fanservice" it is by far more modest and even a central part of the plot than compared to a purely "ecchi" series. Whilst the plot itself is somewhat silly it's all about the artstyle, pace and the way the plot is told which for me is 11/10. But hey, it's from the creators of TTGL.
No Game no Life - which is currently ongoing is really awesome too. It's a tiny bit of Sword Art Online/Log Horizon mixed with a healthy dose of Mondaijitachi. And I quite like the art style as well.
Mekakucity Actors - in a similar vein and style to the Monogatari series.
Nisekoi - a typical rom-com with good humor and once again with a really awesome art style.
Tonari no Seki-kun - for the sheer laughs. The manga brought me to tears laughing many times.
Space Dandy - from the makers of Cowboy Bebop. Lots of comedy in this one but it may not be up everyone's alley though.

Accel World (takes place some 20 odd years after Sword Art Online), some nice action, MC a little hard to take at times tho.
Ongoing ones of note...
Black Bullet - monsters and cyborgs and little girls kicking ass, oh my.
Hitsugi No Chaika - Still not sure whether or not the MC's are the good guys or the bad guys.
M3 Sono Kuroki Hagane - very dark, hard to stop watching tho.

Thought of a couple more I haven't yet seen pop up.
péñpâ+pâ¬pâ+péó ZEI-»AM THE ANIMATION
Quote:The story begins with Iria as an apprentice to her older brother, Gren, a veteran bounty hunter, and his partner Bob, who work for Ghomvak Security along with a somewhat loutish hunter named Fujikuro. During a rescue mission to a hi-jacked spaceship called the-á"Karma", they discover that the hi-jacker is actually a seemingly indestructible alien called Zeiram that broke out of the cargo hold during transit and began to massacre the crew. sªäµâ¦S+útÉåS¦¦
Quote:Tsukiko Sagi, a shy-ácharacter-ádesigner-áwho created the immensely popular pink dog Maromi, finds herself under pressure to repeat her success. As she walks home from the office one night, she is attacked by an-áelementary schoolboy on-áinline skates. Two-ápolice-ádetectives, Keiichi Ikari and Mitsuhiro Maniwa, are assigned to the case. They suspect that Tsukiko is lying about the attack, until they receive word of a second victim. Soon the attacker, dubbed Lil' Slugger, is blamed for a series of street assaults in-áTokyo. None of the victims can recall the boy's face and only three distinct details are left in their memories: golden inline skates, a baseball cap, and the weapon: a bent golden-ábaseball bat. Ikari and Maniwa set out to track down the perpetrator and put an end to his crimes. pé½péñpâÉ
Quote:In Kaiba, memories can be stored as computerized information, so that when people's bodies die, their minds can live on. This digitization of mental information allows both the transference of one's mind to someone else's body, and the theft and alteration of other people's memories. Society has fallen apart as authority has become lost and stagnant. In the skies are roiling clouds and electrical storms, impossible to pass without losing one's memories; above them lies the elusive realm of the rich and powerful, who barter others' bodies and memories for their own enjoyment and longevity. Below lies a troubled and dangerous world where good bodies are hard to come by and real money is scarce.
The series begin as a boy named Kaiba awakens in a ruined room. He has no memories, but he does have a pendant with a picture of an unknown woman inside. After suddenly being attacked, Kaiba escapes into space, and during his travels meets all sorts of people and regains his memories. Throughout it, he continues to be troubled by the world's problems, as well as his own existence. When his brutal past comes to light, he must face all who wish to see him dead. Meanwhile, the woman from the pendant struggles with her cultic convictions and her own memories, which may be intertwined with Kaiba's origins. pâópâÄpâĵǬ
Quote:The story-áfollows a wandering, nameless character known only as the "Medicine Seller". The series is made up of individual chapters in which the medicine seller encounters and combats mononoke. The "mononoke" are a type of ayakashi, unnatural spirits that linger in the human world.
The Medicine Seller always proceeds in the same manner, using his knowledge of the supernatural to fend off the mononoke until he can learn the spirit's shape (Katachi), truth (Makoto) and reasoning (Kotowari). Only then can he unsheathe his sword and exorcise the demon. |

I haven't seen it here but I wanna give it a mention:
Elfen Lied
I am NOT recommending this one. It is intensely brutal, very dramatic, and incredibly tragic. It is a story of children who were enhanced to have extreme telekinetic powers, who became too much to handle in development and began to hurt people without meaning to, or really grasping what they were doing. They grow up in isolation and without parents.
Then the most powerful one escapes...
Like I said, I do not recommend you watch it. If you choose to watch it, you do so at your own discretion. That being said, I thought it was really well done. I am happy that I watched it. I really enjoyed that one, but find it hard to describe it without spoilers. Second season makes some of the things happening in the first one more clear. |

So while I was working in the study this weekend, I heard my wife pull up Netflix and start watching something. After a little bit I could hear her both laughing, and becoming disgusted. I decided to investigate.
She apparently started watching "Heaven's Lost Property."
Ive seen one episode.. ill need to investigate further.. because some guy turned himself into a woman to get into the ladies shower... then apparently turned back into a guy when he got turned on..
She swears its a robot angel fighting anime.. but im not so sure about this.
A cursory google search says that shes right.... but still... dafuq...

Trial run lengths are always like that. If the reception is poor then there will not be a follow-up or at best an OVA or two to wrap things up somewhat.
If it becomes popular enough and assuming the light novel is still popular (profitable), then maybe a season 2 of similar length.
Frankly you need a really popular manga/light novel for a 26 episode run from the get-go. Or a studio that is willing to gamble.

Hot damn, I always thought I was the only one who liked it.
Also, Afro Samurai was fun to watch, especially since Samuel L. Jackson dubs the main character.
