Edited by: Bloodalt on 13/06/2006 13:20:52 If you had to list the top three most important pieces of information you wish you had known from the very first time you set foot in 0.0 space, what would they be?
(1) Be cautious of help offered by strangers [Podded] (2) Bring plenty of ammo [Pride hurt] (3) Rats with 1mil+ bounties are not to be taken lightly [Pride + isk lost]
Thankyou and kind Regards, Blood.

In addition to the above (and trying not to stoop to repetition)
1) You're going to die frequently and often to 'unfair' odds - deal with it. 2) Learn to warp-align - both for the group synchro-warp and 'quick' escapes. 3) Trust your gut instincts. If you see a solo miner in a belt in contested space it probably is bait ;-)

1) check the map before jumping in (good for low sec also) 2) make more than 1 safe spot (preferably not inline) 3) when they try to blob / trap you in a system, move constanly between safespots
4) most importantly - no matter who they are, how tough they are, how many they are, you will allways manage to get into 0.0, find a "quiet" system and get your security status up - as long as you respect the 3 points above (make some isk in the process) Recruitment - Rina Shanu |

Life in 0.0 is liable to give you very regular bowel movements.
Usually around the time when Local swells from 2 people to 360 people in about 5 seconds.

1) 0.0 space really isn't all that dangerous. 2) But instas help. 3) So does bringing friends.
Other than the various chokepoints and alliance hubs in 0.0 regions, you'll find most lawless space to be pretty empty and ripe for the picking. Just make sure you have the local chat window visible at all times.

1) If you're ratting, do so in a pvp setup. 2) If you're going solo, a scout alt on a second account will help. 3) Local is your friend.

1. Your safe spot will get busted: Have multiple spots in each system, and never spend more than 2 minutes in each one. The more bookmarks (safe spots, instas), the better
2.You are safer further from Empire. Someone leaving 0.0 is sure to pass through that choke point... if that 0.0 sector has 2 gates to other 0.0 sectors, you chances of getting spotted just decreased by 50%.
3. Everyone in local will shoot you. This is not always true, or course. But if you act like it is, you will live longer. No matter how good your setup is, there is another setup that will kill you in 2 seconds... so treat Local as hostile at all times!

Edited by: Empyre on 13/06/2006 17:47:20 only one point to add, and its an important one..
DON'T PANIC!
panic will get you killed every.single.time.
EDIT: like someone mentioned, 0.0 is not that dangerous at all. best bet is to build up a handful of frigates in a nearby empire system. then practice flying them around 0.0 until you work that panic/anxiety out of your system. they're cheap to lose and you'll gain the comfort of moving around and just being in the system.
I used to hate pirates.. but with every new stupid person I come across, I begin to sympathize more with the cause. |

Can't believe this one hasn't been mentioned yet..... but it goes against any kind of RP strategy.
When you take your "good" ship out for the first time (assuming you even want to do that, I personally take my BC most of the time, and leave the BS home), do it at off-hours to avoid the chokepoint gatecamps. Going at 5pm US EST on a Sunday will very surely get you killed very quickly.
Also, I recommend having some jump clones, so you don't even have to be concerned about losing your implants. If you can't get jump clones, hook up with one of the many corps that offer jump clone service. This way, you can toss a set of +1's in the jump clone (not that much ISK considering what's in your wallet), and still get OK training times, but not be concerned with the loss of the implants.
My personal strategy:
1. get in jump clone (assuming one isn't already "out there", or i need to take a ship out there 2. go at oh, 11:00am US EST on a Tuesday, or say, maybe 2:00am US EST on a Friday morning. 3. leave ship for when I *really want to play, that way I don't have to deal with travel times when I'm itchin' to be shootin'. :)

1) Gate to Gate Instas 2) Fast and Quick ship, that still packs a punch 3) Steer clear of all and any station, or the lows secs spot like -0.50 and below, usally busy ratting spots --------------------------

Edited by: Eternal Fury on 13/06/2006 21:36:30 Systems that are "highways" in each region are a bad system to rat in. Why? Becuases 3/4 of all pirates in the area will enter the system while you are ratting solo.
Find the systems way in the back.
Don't Rat solo in a dead end system. If there is only one gate in that system, dont' rat there. You can be "Locked" in by a few good pirates.
If it's an area that you go to/from often, look for the choke point going to empire. You'll be able to tell by the gate camps/bubbles, and the dramatically higher Ships destroyed listed on the map. In this system make 3-6 Safe Spot Bookmarks. Also make BM's about 250-300 KM off each gate you plan on useing. This will allow you to warp in, see if there is a bubble up. If there is, head back to your SS and wait it out hopping from one SS to the other. Or turning around completely.
Putting an anchored secure container at your SS and always useing that as your default safe spot is a bad thing. Others can find it with scan probes. They might scan and find it when you are offline, and come back and wait there hopeing that you SS when they come in system. make a BM 200-300KM off your SS just to be safe. And when SSing becuase pirates enter the system, don't use the can SS for the above reasons.
Ohh, and that 1 week old noob stupidly flying around in their T1 Frigate in 0.0 isn't a noob. He's some 6 month old players scouting alt. Kill that noob frigate, and then run out of the system. :) It'll slow them down.

1. Don't try to settle in 0.0 for the first time with people that don't want to to back you up.
2. Bring bpc's of all you need and you're set for months.
3. Always be alert.
Actually the third I didin't learn through mistakes. The first and second I did, but it's so damn long ago that tbh, both should now be cut meat for anyone.

1) Be afraid, be very afraid. Always be alert, never take your eyes off local and check bios on EVERYone you don't know.
2) In space, no one can hear you scream. Never take out a ship / toon with impants / etc, that you can't afford to lose. Ask yourself before you undock, "am I going to be hosed if I lose this ship or clone?" if the answer is yes, DO NOT undock.
3) Nuke'em from orbit, it's the only way to be sure. "NBSI" and I'm not refering to the corp/alliance. NBSI = Not Blue, Shoot It. That is the way of life in 0.0. If you see someone who isn't blue, you better shoot it (or run if you can) cause they are probably about to shoot you. _____________________________ Nukem from orbit...
