So today i got bitten by the bug, The PVP bug.
I have been playing for a week now and loving it mostly doing my tutorial and the sisters of eve line and then i was dumped down in space and left to my own devices
In this case the device was a Tristan i got from the tutorial and some random fittings i had lying around and i had heard of the fun of floating around low sec looking for fun so off i went with no clue.
So i pick a random low sec near-ish where i had been and when i got to the final "safe" gate and then jumped i expected to be blown away instantly by a camp... It was quiet and i was in low, Now to find someone... this is where i hit a snag of sorts
You see the tutorials teach you some exploration but nothing about hunting down players and i had no idea how to use the Directional scan (i still don't)
So i flew around and just hopped from system to system and eventually i decided to go past a random station and here things took a turn for the fun.
Outside the station a random battlecruiser was floating and as i warped in it passively locked me but no shots ripped into me so deciding not to chance things further i booted my MWD and closed till i was orbiting him at 500m making me a bit of a harder target.
I decided to do some chatting in local and struck up a convo with my new "buddy" and he was just being cautious and i explained that whilst i was a bloodthirsty pirate (he did chuckle) i was not entirely insane.
His buddy in local however thought to have some fun at my expense and undocked his frigate and offered me a dual and being a former wow player i did not realise it started instantly so my shield was almost gone before i had locked him
Yet again i kicked my MWD into action i launched my 4 drones and webbed him and managed to somehow take him down with 23structure to spare (i did not know duals actually popped the ship) and that as that i was bitten sure it was some mostly friendly fun but now i know i what i want to do in eve
Anyway why i am here is well my corp aren't really all that involed in pvp and i still have no idea how to find people or use the damned scanner so i am looking to find some nice pirates (haha) out there who might teach me and mould me into a killing machine, i fully expect to die a lot and i am fine with spending as much time as a fireball as making others the same

Sounds like you need a new corp. "PvE in EVE is a trap to turn you into PvP content, don't confuse it for actual gameplay." Lipbite |

Confirming Bebop is elite pvper and a great guy.
He'll get you pointed in the directions you need to go, but you've already taken the most vital step - fit a ship, get out there, see what happens. My advice is to do this with a stack of about 250 tech 1 frigs, once you run through the stack you should have a pretty decent idea of some of the basics and chances are a few kills on your board and a few "lol I did something stupid..." stories to tell :P |

I'm a cyborg. I am? I'm utterly terribad. I just figured I could show a guy how to use d-scan and get up both blown up a few times. (I am finding that I'm not bad at getting warp-ins though, maybe I should start scouting more often.)
Also, it looks like timezones won't work out for me. if there's any EU guys that want to help the OP out, go for it. Congrats to the OP, you've done more in the little time you've been playing than roughly 99% of all the 'players' who you see mining 'roids/sucking ice.
A few corps to keep in mind if you want to learn Da PeeVeePee's:
RvB (Red vs Blue): They can teach you the basics and have a ship replacement program, so you won't go broke. They have some rules, but can give you a solid background in frig/cruiser fights.
E-UNI: If you yearn to learn ECM, these are the guys. They also have a 'low sec' campus, and do stuff in null/WH as well. Have a bunch of rules tho, which you may not like..... Their website is an invaluable resource and, like DOTLAN, should be bookmarked for future use. They mostly do fleet ops IIRC.
Fac Warfare: There are any number of corps involved in Faction Warfare. Do your research before you send in an app to any of them, as some are most definitely better than others. You can also jump into FW solo but I don't recommend it.
Move to Null: Find a corp that lives in null and head on down, or go ronin and do it solo. Providence and Syndicate are two good places to start (I recommend Provi as its true null), and once you spend some time down there you can decide which corp in the area is right for you.
Move to Low: pick a lowsec system, move in, and start shooting stuff. Pretty soon the local pirates...um...residents....will either flee or ask you to join up.
Have fun!!!
Everything in EVE is a trap. And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:) You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

Congrats to OP. Your first foray into PVP went better than most peoples! D-Scan makes no sense until you figure it out, then it's super awesome and super easy to use. Until then it's nonsense. With your attitude, you'll have no problem fining people willing to show you the ropes. Feel free to contact me in game anytime if you have any questions or need advice from a terri-bad pvp'r. There are at least a half dozen people in RvB who do not fall into those categories! Tengu Grib > I agree. The distinct lack of quality spaceships makes RL the worst space sim ever. SolidX > i'm an alt IRL Guilty conscience? Buy a mining permit today. www.minerbumping.com |

Dscan: Turn on tracking camera, turn your range to max and your angle to 5 degrees. Click on celestials in space and click scan. (what ever your camera is facing is what you'll dscan depending on your angle). TADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA you just did dscan. Learning what is pos trash and what is actually going to be in belts takes abit of experience but other than that its a piece of cake.
For looking for corps you wanna try recruitment channel:) plenty of corps out there willing to teach:) |

Yeah the annoying part with DScan is remembering that it scans the direction your camera is facing not the direction your ship is pointing. So aligning to a celestial doesn't help with scanning, tracking camera makes life way easier though. Tengu Grib > I agree. The distinct lack of quality spaceships makes RL the worst space sim ever.
