I am currently training frigates V and I have noticed that, whereas EVEMon and EVEDroid are both ticking up skill points, in game I seem frozen. Am I just not properly refreshing the skill points in game or are they not awarded until the 9 or so day training period is completed? If the latter, do I upgrade clones based on what the current count is in EVEMon or am I good with going with the game client, being careful to upgrade as soon as the skill is completed? |

The game client should display skillpoints awarded immediately. Hit Esc find Reset Settings/Clear All Cache Files and see if that helps. If it doesn't hit F12 and file a petition. If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain. |

The skill point total displayed on your character sheet does not update until a skill completes, or you change the skill that is training.
Constantly updating skill points are a figment of third-party app's imagination, as they only do API calls at timed intervals, at which point they are temporarily in sync until the next API call. EVEmon will give you a warning if your system's clock is wrong for this reason. |

Uhm, if you have to buy clones that are that close that either of them counts, just buy a clone 1 step up. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Actually as far as I know it does not, at least for the last few years. It only ever updates for me if I finish a skill or if I pause the skill queue. The Drake is a Lie |

Skill points can be seen in real time on character sheet on these boards as well, however they update only when you reload the page by going back forth between skill queue and skill list.
If you need a clone then by all means buy it, you don't lose anything but a few ISK when you buy a clone that is "too big for you". Too small a clone (holds less SP then your current total) and you lose SP if you get podded so if in doubt buy the bigger one. |

better buy a clone with enough SP for quite a while, because when you upgrade the clone, you dont pay the difference between previous clone and new clone +1 level, you pay the whole price of a new clone. |

agree with the other people -- most clones will give you a decent buffer. If you play "safe" (e.g. don't pvp much), then you can get a clone 2 or 3 steps above what you "need" (i.e. if you have 900k SP, then buy a clone delta - which holds like 3m SP - instead of the beta, which only holds 1.3m) One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

I mostly PvP so I try to use the clone that is closest to where I am at the time. For instance, the game is frozen at 1,609,000 SP and my Gamma clone covers 2 mill + change so I have not upgraded it, even though I will clearly need to do so once frigate V is done cooking. No point throwing ISK away even if its not very much. |

At those SPs clones are dirt cheap, better safe then sorry. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Boiled down, as long as my client SP is lower than my clone at death I loose no SP no matter what might be cooking, correct? |

Imagine how much it would suck if you finish frigate V and a second later you get podded and lose the skill again because your clone was too small...

With respect, whereas your scenario indeed would be tragic, it doesn't actually answer my question. |

I have no idea, because I just pick a clone that is easily big enough. It's pocket change, who cares about pocket change. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy
