First, let me say Hello to all. I'm a noob just starting out. First 6 hours and I haven't blown myself up, yet! Finding the community is very helpful. Thank you. This is going to be an interesting game.
My question. Going thru the tutorials I earned a citizen shield for my ship. As I progressed I have earned a second shield(can't remember name). Part of the tutorial was to remove the citizens and install new. Done. I now have a citizen shield in my inventory. Can I sell it for the ISK? Any help is appreciated. See you in the far, far, away. |

Technically: Yes, you can sell it.
Practically: You might aswel trash it, as you've seen, everybody gets a free one that is better (any normal module is better then a civilian one) and thus the market for civilian stuff is south of not existing and thus prices are very very very low. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

While you can sell them, you will have to use contracts with civilian modules as they cannot be sold on the market. This is to prevent clutter in the market window since they are intended as "tutorial" items and really have little use elsewhere in the game. The tech 1 alternative is much better and quite cheap, even for new players. www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com

Any junk that you dont want to keep and which is too troublesome to sell can usually be "reprocessed" which will give you an assortment of component items (various minerals and the like) which are usually useful in building other things or can be aggregated and sold more easily then the original item. You will have a tutorial that will require you to lose a ship. Strip out any fittings in it and replace with all that citizen stuff. |

When it explodes, you get given extra money by the insurance company on top of the mission rewards.

you might be able to reprocess it for minerals which CAN be sold on the market and/or used in construction. |

Citizen modules generally cannot be reprocessed.
They really are just worthless junk. You won't even come back to these as fallbacks if you suffer a bad loss early in your career (you'll loot better from rats). https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=346564 - a proposal to overhaul the Logistics skill https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. www.minerbumping.com - ganking miners and causing chaos |

Basically the only way that Civilian modules come into play after the tutorial.
* You and friends want to do a drunk and fun roam. You pick a newb frigates (or cheap normal frigates) and only fit civlian stuff to it and go out and die while laughing.

Frankly I'd rather ***** my kills with hobo II's then ...
but anyway civilian modules are meant to be used for tutorials only as they require next to no skills at all to use which is reflected by their rather pathetic stats. |

Well TY all for the info. I have not done the mission yet where you have to destroy a ship, but when I do I'll use all the citizen stuff. I just bought a medium shield booster!! ;) thanks again |

Generally medium sized modules go on cruisers , though shielding is somewhat of an exception to this. If you're having trouble fitting that on your ship, or of its gimping your fitting room remember that might be why. "CAKE CANNOT HOLD UP TO BEING A CHARACTER DAMNIT."

Thanks Ralph. It fit fine. But it does bring up another question. I now have a small and medium shield booster fitted to the ship. Will they work together or should I un-fit the small one? |

How are your capacitor and CPU looking? I'd sub out the small for a damage repair module myself but I don't know a lot about good fitting yet. |
