I would stick to T1 frigates and try out different styles of play with them. They will give you a good overview of the different types of ship set ups you can have in EvE. You can experiment with all of these on the cheap. Also, if I recall platinum insurance covers the entire cost of a T1 frigate hull. So if it goes boom, you get all your ISK back. Some different recommendations below.
Skills: Getting all the various support skills to 4 does not take much time but will help you out a LOT. Consider focusing on getting them all to four and then getting the ones you want to focus on to 5.
Ships: Some ships I would try as a new player. - Rocket Breacher (With Medium Ancillary Shield Booster, Need Size 50 Cap Charges for the MASB) - Blaster Merlin - Railgun Merlin - Missile Kestrel - Drone Tristan - Blaster Atron - Autocannon Rifter
EFT: Look into a program called EFT. You can download it, just google it. Its a third party tool that lets you test out fits offline. You can even set the skill level of your character ensuring the fit works for your specific situation. It is a HUGE way to save ISK as you build ships. Make sure you have the most up to date one, as it is updated every time CCP tweaks the ships (CCP is ensuring all ships are balanced). Just remember, the damage you see on EFT may not be the damage you see in reality. Its going to give you the damage you put out if everything is optimal. It doesnt take into account things like tracking, etc. As such, try out the different styles with the T1 frigates to figure out which one you like best. Pretty much everything is a trade off one way or another.
Group: As you noticed there is a TON to learn. Highly recommend joining a group. EvE with a group is so much more fun than EvE alone. Consider EvE University for structured learning (formal classes, etc). Brave Newbies for null sec learning (you will be fine as a new pilot, they are great at taking newbies and teaching them PvP). Red vs Blue for lots of things getting blown up (created to be at war with each other). https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=266074 - Sniggwaffe (Waffles)

Research research research. There are a lot of guides out there to help you determine what skills you may need before you dive in. A few hours of reading can save you a lot of trouble in how you manage your skills. Once you determine what is necessary for what you want to do, you can use a program like EVEMon to build a skill plan and maximize your training.
Not sure if this is up to date, but it may help. Skills, tips, restrictions, etc all listed here.

Obviously you did NOT read the OP, or never heard of reading what the actual question is. As you decided to write a wall of text which has south of nill to do with anything the OP asks.
OP:
As you are still on trial, you are locked out of Industrial ships (which are great for PI - especially the Epithal which has a special hold for PI items).
But as a trial you can't fly those and then the next best thing will be the Primae which was a gift ship when PI came out.
As for skills:
There aren't many skills related to PI and they are all in the Planet Management category. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Please enlighten me what 2nd part.
Or how a freaking fit for combat frigate is helping the OP with PI.
OP is interested in PI and asks which ships and skills will be useful for him/her (thus: ships and skills for PI)
Ethikos' answer in that regard makes absolutely NO sense at all (it's great info, I admit that, but of total no use for the OP). Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Ethikos' answer (listen frigates, EFT and corp related stuff) in that regard makes absolutely NO sense at all (it's great info, I admit that, but of total no use for the OP's question).
But as usual, DMC has to get up on his high horse.. Again with the smug sarcastic remarks. I'll get off the high-horse when you get off the smart-ass.
I understand the main topic was about PI but any and all info is relevant and useful to a 2 day old player.
In answer to your questions the OP posted this 2nd part which doesn't exactly specify whether it's strictly for PI or just for overall game play - Quote:I would like some advice on what's some skills and ships that would be useful for me...There is so much to learn so any advice is welcome .. Get all planet management skills up to L3. This will force you to train a basic skill to L5 to open up the one advanced skill.
Get industrail ship soon as you can.
Stay out of security that is lower than 0.5. If you do not, expect to be killed and most likely podded.
Train trade skills up after you got your planet management done. Saves on tax and helps you trade remotely.
Use a search engine and get to reading. Lots of stuff avalible to help you choose what to harvest and build. |

Actually since it's a 2 day old player, my advice would have been to complete the Tutorial, then complete the 5 different Career Agents and then do the level 1 Sisters Of Eve Epic Arc while training up Core Fitting Skills which would allow ample time to decide on which career to pursue.
Anyway, now the thread is getting off topic and probably will soon be derailed - all due to sarcastic remarks being posted initially.

Oh.
so walls of text about espionage is perfectly to the point of OP too. Or how to build the best mining ship Or mission ship Or Incursion ship
Or what you need for a titan
If you see that as a 2nd point in the OP, then ANYTHING will go in this thread.
Or as most sane people
'Any advice is welcome' is based on that any advice is welcome about the previously stated subject (aka PI). Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

So OP, what are you interested in doing in game? PI is nice for some passive income, but it's play value isn't enough to sustain anyone on it's own (as far as I know).
What else have you got your eye on? Combat? Mining? Industry? Trading? Scamming? Pirating? Mining? Exploration?
If you aren't sure yet, as DMC suggested, do ALL the career agent missions as they introduce you to different areas of play. Once you've developed some interests, we can help you better as far as tips and skills. www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com

Pretty good comment there.
However...personally I think missions are super boring. Any kind of tutorial also unfortunately. The only missions that can be remotely ok to do is thoose you can co-op with others.
Anyway....I do PI in hi-sec and also mining, trading and manufacturing to some extent. I'd be happy to show you the ropes.
In-game message sent. Our corporation is recruiting! We live in Caldari high-sec-space and mainly do mining and missions.

Didn't see any mention of the very important skill Custom Code Expertise if you want to roll PI in High-sec. Also, not need to be scared shitless going into low-sec, just make sure you've done your homework - and if you got friends ask them to scout you.
Best tip I can give you, check your market - look which PI goods seem to have a decent amount of sales. Things that are used to make POS fuel is commonly good to start out doing. You could get coolants going or maybe mechanical parts - most likely won't make you spacerich but it's a start.
To make a more decent buck, you might want to look into creating factory planets. Meaning you don't build any extractors there, just get a launchpad and some factories, set it running more high-end jobs you're confident will turn a profit. You'll be importing lower tier PI goods and refining it so make sure you got your math right, my first run gave me a net loss of 15 million.
Also, don't be afraid to contact POCO owners and see if they'd be interested in giving you good standings (also giving you better taxes). An active factory planet will land the owner almost as much ISK as an active missioner if not more.
If you don't feel comfy trying to get a spreadsheet up and running there are still plenty of tools available for you to guestimate profits. I mostly use https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/pi/
Best of luck and for the love of god don't fill your untanked Epithal to the brim with the highest end PI goods, try and move your products securely. (Check hauling guides.) |

On paper, PI seems like a good thing. What they don't say is that, for the most part, it's a good thing when done outside of high sec.
As much as it pains me to advise this for a brand new character, your best bet is to just stick with mining/missions for a while until you get a feel for the game. There are hundreds of PVE activities open to you once you have some skills built up, but that takes some time.
So do the tutorials, get a handle on the mechanics and keep any career decisions on hold for a while.

In all honesty; I did not fully read all post in this thread. I'm gonna give you some advice while utterly drunk and near incapable of typing properly;
IF you wanna stay into PI; train all those skills and get yourself some alts with PI skills on your main account.
When you're looking for a broader spectrum; join a corporation that claims to have your interest as a main activity. If true; stay and learn. If not; trade them in for a new group with the same claim and check out if they are in fact doing it. Keep that cycle going untill you find people that benefit you.
What skills to train for only matters if it helps you enjoy EVE more. Just train those and you're good to go.
