so I decided to ME research on a BPO. I read what it is supposed to do - reduce waste % by (1+MElvl). I assume this is the Wastage Factor value in BPO information? So what is the waste % shown in manufacturing quote window? Why is it different for different materials? Why is it higher than Wastage Factor in BPO information? Is there anything that can additional decrease that waste %?
And what is Dmg/Job in the quote? Damage per job?
Case in point - Scourge Light Missile BPO. from BPO: Wastage Factor is 10% Required materials (me): Mexallon 6, Pyerite 16, Tritanium 56 BUT quote window says: Required: Mexallon 13, Pyerite 18, Tritanium 155 Waste: Mexallon 15.3%, Pyerite 11.1%, Tritanium 12.9%. Why required materials are 2 and 3 times more than what BPO says? |

Total Material = ROUND(Base Material * (1.25 + Base Waste / (ML + 1) - Material Efficiency Skill * 0.05))
Wastage = Base Waste / (ML + 1)
Base Material = ROUND(Material on ML 0 BPO / (1 + Wastage on ML 0 BPO)) Base Waste = Wastage on a ML 0 BPO |

my ME skill is 4, going on 5 now. but as I understand, ME is the difference between 'perfect' and 'you' required material amounts? it doesnt have anything to do with waste? even description on the skill doesnt say anything about waste. correct me if I am wrong. |

Don't even bother trying to figure it out. it is all changing soon. It is a messed up system, and is getting completely revamped.
currently there are several factors, skills, research, and many BPOS now have extra materials, it is very buggy how waste is applied to the extra materials, and show info does not line up with actual results.

Basically if your ME skill < 5 the quote is wrong. I would have hoped it was fixed by now though.

It is still around, despite having been fixed once iirc. Though I wouldn't have thought it could hit here. The missiles don't have extra materials and that's what causes the bug. Or are you thinking of a different bug? |

Of course the whole UI is being replaced in 25 days. |

As of July 22, this entire thread is moot.
PE skill is getting shelved. Waste will be rolled into the base materials. The ME% of the BP and any POS module, Teams, etc will then determine how much of a material use reduction you will get.
