Good day to you all! Just started playing EVE yesterday, it's a really great game. I am considering to start investing money into it so I can buy myself some game time (cca. 3 months). Now, I am looking forward to make some cash by becoming a miner. So, I asked a friend to deliver me some expensive skillbooks for mining (stuff like Miner Barge, Laser technologies etc.). I picked the books up from the Caldari spawn point (for newbie players) from my friend, and I set out into Gallente space (you see, I picked up the skillbooks with my Caldari alt). When I arrived in Renyn, where I am currently located, I noticed that my item hangar is completely devoid of the books (I was traveling in a pod). When I left I had them in my inventory. What is going on?
PS: Can somebody give me the name of that Caldari station newbie players spawn at? I can't recall the name :( Aegroto dum anima est, spes est. |

sounds like you left the books in the station instead of putting them in your cargo. i know this is the case because pods have no cargo space. find the assets window on the neocom on the left (looks like a safe) it'll tell you all the stations you have stuff in.
you'll find the books in the station where you left them.
edit: as for the starter stations, there's a few. depends on your bloodline if i remember correctly. or they may allow you to choose which of the 3 starter corps you want to be in. it may have changed since i started. You can't take the sky from me

For caldari is will be
Kisogo Todaki Amsen
one of these
your skill books will still be sitting in your hanger, you cant carry anything in a pod.
if you go to your inventory you should see what station your books are located. Welcome to eve lil bro.

Thanks alot, looks like I have to do the 13 jumps again *facepalm* And one more question: I would like to transit the books from my alt to my main, but apparently I cannot log on two accounts at the same time. Is there an alternate way to do this? Aegroto dum anima est, spes est. |

Set a private contract to your alt. Make sure your alt is in same location or you will have even more jumps to do.

you're a trial account, aren't you?
trial accounts have limits. no contracts, and no logging in of another account on the same machine being two of them.
you'll have to subscribe.

All else aside, never travel in a pod unless it's station-hopping for a rookie ship. The rookie ship is faster, just as free, and considerably more capable (for example, it can carry cargo). |

plus some people take pleasure in sitting at gates and stations with a ship that can lock and blap you if you dally too long. You can't take the sky from me

Have your main character buy and anchor a small secure container in a 0.7 system near a station. Log out and log in alt character, place skill books in the password protected container, log out and relog back in with the main character, collect skill books.
This can also be used transfer other items as well. Since ISK can't be transferred from alt to main, the only other recourse is to spend the alt's ISK on something else like equipment, skills, Ore, etc and place that in the anchored container. Then the main character can resell on the market.

Did you leave in your pod or in a ship?
If POD:
Pods don't have any cargohold at all, so you left them behind, you likely moved them into a different ship's cargohold.
If SHIP:
As you arrived in your pod, your ship got destroyed and thus likely you lost the skillbooks, you will have to rebuy them.
As for location of your stuff:

With skillbooks it's also a good idea to inject as many as you can instead of carrying them around in your ship. That puts them safely inside your head where you can still train them later, instead of the possibility of losing them if your ship goes boom. www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com

this ... and newbros. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Is there an alternate way to do this? I regularly do 30 jump trips across high/low sec in frigates. The key is to pick something with a fast warp speed. Preferably 6.0au/s or faster. The concord or caldari shuttle will be good choices for fast traveling when starting.
As for transferring items, look up the contract system. Be careful with this though as the action will show up on your API so if you give out your api to say a corp that you're joining, they will be aware of both characters. A way to get around this is to jettison items at a planet, and scoop them with the other character.
