Ok this is my 1st post. on forums but i have played for years. kinda.......
anyways we are all awear of the missle effects. and how they are now compaired to the past but i was wondering if anyone has heard anything as far as if turrets effects will be changed, or more or less the model of the impact effect i mean it's nothign big but. After seeing and using turrets, why do hits from all guns always impact the same spot on targets. i mean i could just be Dreaming too big or too small i don't know. as Far as video editing/recording go's when gun strike the same spot it gets pretty Lame. heck i love to play eve and can't wait for more. but something small like this caught my eye i tried to ignore it but. i can't .
to clear everything up has anyone heard or seen anything about skattered impact points on ships? [visual] If not it's fine
OK 2nd question ok i get alot of Flak about the Abby. I know that compaired to the others damage is lower then the other ship
but why so much Hostiliy for using it. I mean i found a build for the ship 500-600 DPS 90 Avg. resists across the board.shotty tech 2 weapon skill. with good skills i can see it aroudn
(according to the respective incomming damage) the DPS can be increased if the 1200 mm plate is removed from PVP to PVE only 2 rigs need to be removed and 2 med slots. PVE it is capstable.(can perma tank lvl 4's untill the end of time i feel comfortable going to sleep in the middle of the mission and finish it tomarrow without logging) . as far aas the PVP fit you might ask whats the EHP. i would say below 80k but note. it can comfortably tank to 2 PVP fit proteus (not to win) but you have a good ammount of time befor you need to really need to panic everything is tech 2 except rigs.
my skills are all not 5 yet. if they were i would be able to relay it's max potential but can't
that aside why to people put down the the ship. it seems it could be more then effective for most uses.
Is it Really a bad ship?
IF you would like some more info on the Abb fit contact me ingame.

Okay... so... wat?
Also, what's a 1200mm plate?
As far as I can tell you're trying to find out why the Abaddon sucks because you've heard it sucks. The reality is that it doesn't suck, it's merely average-mediocre.
Also, if you want accurate numbers on your fit with your skills and with max skills, install a program called EVE Fitting Tool and link your API with it and import your fit. Good stuff that.
And as far as gun impacts they don't always strike one single place. They usually spread out to a few points across a target, but they do admittedly have only a few points which they can hit on a ship. But let's be truthful, if I was targeting I'd probably just hit a single place to burn through the armour and mess up the internals of the ship in one place as quickly as possible.
Edit: also, it sounds like you're massively over-tanking your ship. If you reduced the tank mods somewhat you could probably up your damage/application substantially and clear missions a lot faster. |

Uh.....what? You're all over the place but I didn't get a question, just a lot of nonsense.
Abaddon is somewhat ok for missioning for a beginner but a bit slow, its tank bonus and damage bonus is partially negated by having bad cap and only 7 lowslots to use.
I hope that helped you. Post actual questions next time. |

TL;DR
I think the weapon effects on 800mm ACs are very lackluster. You can barely even tell that they are firing. While the AC effects on Angel BS rats look great. Whats up with that? |

1a. You have to understand that what we see on our computers are simply graphics. What the server sees are just spheres and what trajectories those spheres have... along with a plethora of stats.
Where shots strike on a graphical model is predetermined by our computer client and DO NOT affect how much damage is being dealt... that is done purely through calculating ship stats, speed, and distance.
It is possible to add more "strike points" on a ship model... or randomize it... but there is no word (that I know of) on anything about this.
2a. The Abaddon isn't "bad"... it is just lackluster in a few critical areas. Other than that, it is a BEAST of a ship.

Stats (with level 5 skills): - about 180,000 effective hitpoints - deals about 950 damage per second @ 15km optimal +10 km falloff (800 dps from just the guns) - deals about 800 damage per second @ 45km optimal +10 km falloff (640 dps from just the guns) - moves about 683 m/sec - capacitor power lasts about 1 minute with everything on (more than 2.5 minutes with the MWD off).
Strengths: - It is a BRICK. When you give up the Heat Sinks for a third Energized Adaptive and 1600 plate you can easily top 200,000 effective hitpoints... more if you include certain implant sets and/or warfare links. In smaller engagements (less than 20 on each side) target callers will prioritize Abaddons below everything else... allowing these ships to deal a consistent amount of damage on the field over a long period of time. - It may not be the most DPS-endowed battleship in the game, but few other ships can project a sizable amount of damage between 10 to 45 km in all directions with the click of a button (except for sentry drone battleships).
Weaknesses: - it is a VERY capacitor hungry ship with lackluster native capacitor power. This was done on purpose though. Every ship needs a weakness. - it is one of the slowest battleships in the game... especially when fully tanked. - Laser weapons in general have poor tracking up close (unlike Blasters and Autocannons). - Laser weapons do not deal high volley damage (unlike Artillery) - In large engagements (more than 100 on each side) tank begins to matter less and less. At some point, the incoming DPS is so high that no amount of tank will save you.
tldr... do not judge a ship's worth based upon its ability to PvE. The Abaddon is good in its own way... but there are better ships for that purpose. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

1. Agreed. And while you're redoing guns, add some consistency and evolution to their models. Look at a heavy beam laser vs a dual heavy beam laser.
2. The Abaddon received a small nerf to its resistances a while back but it used to be a popular doctrine ship called a Hellcat. Today the meta has shifted to elite cruisers and/or longer range ships and/or drones. The Apocalypse Navy Issue or Foxcat is the doctrine replacement for the Abaddon with better range, tracking, mobility and cap. |
