First off, yes, I know it's not a good PvE ship. I trained into it for PvP and general coolness reasons. My skills in anything other than projectiles and minmatar are awful, so while I welcome suggestions to use a different hull that will perform better/cheaper than a Loki, those suggestions must be Minmatar projectile boats (and my BS/large gun skills are also pretty much nonexistent).
Right now I make money zooming around hisec explo in a Cynabal, but now that I can fly a Loki with good skills I was wondering if I can use it to make money more effectively, maybe with lowsec exploration. I spend most of my time around Placid, which is Serpentis lowsec, but Genesis is not too far away, and the Loki's base resists seem more appropriate for Blood Raiders than Serps. How well could a Loki do soloing 5/10s and 6/10s in Serp or BR space?
Ive heard it can also be an incursion boat for the webs, though at least for VGs I've been told that the long range webs are pointless since almost everything is in range of boosted Fed Navies anyways, and I'd be better off bringing a battleship.
I havn't done any missions since the tutorial, but if the Loki is somehow really good at L4s I might grind up the standings and give that a shot. Day tripping into C2 (or C3 if possible?) wormholes is also something I've considered.
Anyways I would appreciate any advice on what to do and suggested fits. (Or you can inform me that the Loki is so awful at PvE that I should just continue doing hisec explo in a Cynabal until I can fly an actual PvE ship several months down the line, if that's actually the case )
Thanks! |

The best place I've found for a Loki is PvE webbing in C5/C6 Wormholes. T3s in general are not used all that much in Incursions anymore that I see, maybe for assaults because of the dual-room sites.
I can't really comment on exploration or things like as I've never ever used it for that. |

I have used a Loki for exploration , but he was a second account. Slot layout. lots of mids helped for fitting code breakers, analyzers, tank, etc. Probe, tractor, and cloak in the top, and whatever in the bottom (Gyro's and DC if I recall) The Loki did the probing, salvaging, etc, and occasionally added DPs, though not much.
To be clear, this was a second account. Duel boxing.
DPS was the #1 reason I didn't use a Loki solo. I wanted to, I tried... it just never did the job.

Loki is going to struggle in the BR 5/10 due to lack of range. It should be able to manage the 6/10 but it's going to take a very long time (again, mostly due to range but also total damage output). It can do the Serp 5/10 because... well, because it's really not that bad. Range will become an issue in the last room again. The Serp 6 is off limits to all but specialized fits (it neuts about as hard as any site in the game) and I doubt the Loki can swing it.
Having said that, I do have a use for the Loki in PvE: it's great as a roaming null professional site runner. Something like this should pay for itself easily:
[Loki, space tourist warp fast] Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Damage Control II
Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I Cargo Scanner II Relic Analyzer II Data Analyzer II Large Shield Extender II
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II Sisters Core Probe Launcher, Sisters Core Scanner Probe 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, EMP M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, EMP M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, EMP M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, EMP M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, EMP M
Medium Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer II Medium Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer II Medium Polycarbon Engine Housing II
Loki Defensive - Adaptive Shielding Loki Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer Loki Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration Loki Propulsion - Interdiction Nullifier Loki Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Guns are mostly for blapping stray covops ships you run into in sites. You might want to swap out the kinetic rig for explosive if you want to throw in ghost sites. Last time I took mine out they weren't in game but the payout isn't bad. |

Loki is really lackluster for combat sites. If you're going to use medium projectiles for PvE the best option would be a Sleipnir. However it's bulky and you're far more likely to get caught if you're planning on doing sites in lowsec. I would recommend sticking to highsec sites in the Cynabal until you can fly something more suited to lowsec combat sites (non-Minmatar HACs or other T3s). |

Thanks for the very informative response! I'll probably give the 5/10 Serp a shot since its not like anything else I own is any better. Never really explo toured null before, maybe ill go in a covops first to get a feel and then come back in that fit. :) |

Another question, how about Arty if range is such a big issue? Something like:
[Loki, Armor Rep Arty BR/San]
Centum C-Type Medium Armor Repairer Internal Force Field Array I Gyrostabilizer II Republic Fleet Gyrostabilizer Shadow Serpentis Armor Thermic Hardener Shadow Serpentis Armor Thermic Hardener
Large Capacitor Battery II Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I 10MN Afterburner II Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I

Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Loki Offensive - Projectile Scoping Array Loki Defensive - Adaptive Augmenter Loki Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst Loki Electronics - Immobility Drivers Loki Engineering - Power Core Multiplier
Acolyte II x5
465 gun DPS (550 with drones), webs help deal with tracking issues, ~1150 ehp/s vs BR. DPS is bad but at least it has ok-ish projection. |

I used to fly an arty Loki in Minmatar hisec exploration. It was fun. Then for some reason CCP banned T3s from DED 3/10 and 4/10. Dunno why, current HACs and Gila are probably better at those sites now than the T3s were. Never tried lowsec sites with it so can't help there. It could tank a fully triggered/spawned Angel Vigil though. Dunno if my HACs could quite manage that... |

Soloing C3 sites is probably the best PvE role for a Loki, since when you're doing C3s in a cruiser only EM/Therm resists matter and those are your racial T2 resists. You can get >800 DPS out of a C3 Loki and still have a probe launcher fitted to watch the hole while ratting, something you can't do with a Tengu. |

Not been able to get that much when I've EFTed a fit, but I suck at managing subsystems =) |

I thought wormholes were mostly omnidamage, but been a while since I delved into that. |

What Xeq means is that with an ab cruiser you can speed/sig tank BS turrets so you only really need to worry about missiles. Which do em/therm damage. |

It's actually the opposite of that, when you're moving, the exp/kin dealing missiles do no damage at all, and even on waves where you're webbed to a standstill, you're still sig tanking them down to like 40% of their normal damage.
More importantly, missiles don't wreck, and C3s don't scramble you, so if you do make a major error, you want an EM/Therm focused tank. A tank breaking to exp/kin damage will break slowly, giving you time to warp out. A tank breaking to EM/Therm damage has a real risk of instantly exploding at any time. Sleepless Upholder wrecking shots do 5712 damage, two of those in an across-the-board 70% omni-tanked ship and you can go from 40% shield to structure instantly. |
