So I have recently done the Sisters epic arc again and I came across these: -

Now do they or do they not scream perfect for some kind of mobile deployable? I am sure there are Gallente and Minmatar versions around somewhere but I haven't found them yet. If anyone does find them can the post them up for us to take a look?
My first thought was they would be good for the role of the Mobile Depot but we already have that so it needs to be something else.
My second thought was for some kind of mobile deployable base of operations for more nomadic players. You can store ammo, scripts, a small amount of fuel and a few ships inside but as they are fairly small structures, limit it up to Cruiser in size? Maybe if external docking can be worked out that could be added for larger ships?
My final thought was to have it as a sort of immobile vessel/extra small POS that can be set up while in station with modules specially designed for it. Micro refinery, micro research lab, micro manufacturing facility, as well as some normal ship fittings for offering some kind of tanking potential so, shield hardeners, rechargers, etc. Absolutely no offensive potential unless adding a couple of POS guns to it would be acceptable, I think not really. Once fitted it would need to be taken out of station and anchored somewhere where it will start to consume fuel and perform whatever functions you have it setup for. To ensure it is not OP or stepping on the toes of actual POSes there could be a requirement for other kinds of fuel as well like Scientists for repro/manufacturing/research that have to be loaded in to the module like a script.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. Might not be good ones but I do think that those models can definitely be re-purposed into a mobile deployable of some sort. If anyone can think of anything else please add it in and we can discuss it.
And yes I know about the Mobile Deployables thread, I think this is different enough to warrant its own thread. |

Yes, but I am not talking about what I want the mobile deployable to specifically do. There are some options but this is more about repurposing existing models for the task instead of creating new models. We can wait and see what an ISD says and if the thread gets locked then I can just copy paste the OP into the Mobile Deployables thread. |
