So OP comes across some noobs doing badly in missions and decides to ep them so....
...so that they'll survive long enough to create a full loot for him to steal.
So OP is mad the pigs found out he was fattening them for the slaughter and ran away, hahahahaha. |

Have we just found a use for the Nestor? Trolling mission runners by probing them down and then suddenly providing them with logi and DPS support in addition to the usual ninja salvaging? |

It would be a bit expensive to use as a ninja looter though. |

You don't know how the ship is set up, for all you know it could be fitted to tank your damage and hold you there while the guy warps his alts to join in.
Unless you're jumped by war targets how would his alts be able to join in the fun? That is not how Limited Engagements work. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=331004 - thank me later |

but thats the point: you don't know. You dont know how hes fit, you dont know what his intent is you dont know if theres 40 catalysts inbound using him as a warp in, coming to gank you purely for the S and giggles. You dont know and your in a pve ship doing pve. There is only one CORRECT response to a badger, a baslisk, an orca or anything at all appearing in your deadspace pocket: WARP OUT AND DOCK UP!. This 100 times this. A single lv 4 is worth peanuts compared to most any ship, preemptive abandoning is always the right thing to do. |

You did something that most people dread: you did something unexpected.
A mission runner might or might not be prepared to someone entering his/her mission to ninja salvage or just to get a valid criminal flag and point the mission runner ship while he gets backup.
However seeing someone warping in and starting to rep your ship is very very fishy. I would probably think that said person is aware of some bug / mechanic that is going to give him a valid title to attack me, putting me and my pve fitted ship in high danger. |

salvage seems so worthless these days I'm genuinely surprised that people still give a **** about ninja salvagers. hell half the time you abandon wrecks and the ninja just warps off anyways. You can trust me, I have a monocole |

Random fuckery with mission runners is so lowball, I don't know why anyone bothers. Spend a few hours passive-target scanning the local bears, watchlist the juicy ones, locator them on a regular basis, then bring a few friends in tornadoes. Simples. Leave the dumb ones to get some isk then come back and harvest them later when it's invested in their ship. The "smart," missioners are the ones you want because they're bold and believe their one undock bm makes them invulnerable. |

Ok so if I start a corp with another alt and then wardec my mission running corp with it, and some 'neutral logi' shows up and reps me while im in a mission, is that logi now a legal target for my other corp? |

So convoluted.
Obviously the easiest thing to do is rep them, once they are over their heads stop - scoop loot. Perhaps "help" by shooting some triggers.

Seth's Dead wrote:Anyway, the point of the thread wasnt "why are they all running off?" it was more of a "people are too quick on the warp out button, and not checking to see what people are doing." It was also sort of a general commentary on the state of PvE, I suppose. People who don't even play EVE know that EVE is the game where every hardcore griefer in the gaming world comes to hone their skills and get in touch with their inner sociopath. It's the game where you automatically assume anyone you don't know, and most of the people you do know, are indeed out to gank/****/destroy you.
EVE is ganker paradise. Period. So if you show up unannounced, you're there to gank. Period. That's not being skittish, that's day 1 of EVE 101 class. Everyone hates you, everyone is out to get you, everyone wants your stuff and will gank you to get it, don't fly pretty or else you brought it on yourself, etc etc.
Plus, highsec ganking is a lot more popular than it used to be, because griefers looking to gain hardcore cred they can flex in other forums for other games like picking on highsec n00bs instead of throwing down in lowsec where they know they'll get raped. So if you dropped into my 0.7 mission, that's what I think...someone too weaksauce to take their nonsense to lowsec is here to try and pick on who they think is the slow kid. That's what gankers do.
Drop into my mission, I'm out. Period. Easier to dock and wait you out with an AFK than mess with my ISK/faction per hour. |

I think a better question, more prone to this situation, would be what I would do if I was attacked by several people, and the guy that has been following me around for 10 minutes in a dark alley ran over to bandage up my wounds. In that case, I would let him finish, say thanks, and hope he wasnt going to mug me. |

In your "just here to help" model of dropping your logi into someone's highsec mission, uninvited and unannounced, the better analogy is what would a person do if they were in a neighborhood where people get mugged every single day by everyone, and one day they are there doing something, and you appear suddenly and begin running towards them, saying nothing about being there to help or anything.
Someone scared of where they are will see a random, unannounced and uninvited stranger as just another mugger looking for a payday, and will flee first, ask questions later.
You want to play carebear helper of helpless L4 runners, start a corporation with that mission, recruit others, build a name for yourself as the kindly, benevolent soul who traipses the galaxy looking for opportunities to be kind to others. Until then, you're unannounced and uninvited, which means you're there to gank. |

Honestly people screw with mission runners so much it does surprise me. Personally the minute someone warps into a site or mission I'm running in HS I figure they are up to no good. Also does ninja looting even work any more? Don't people just drop a tractor, and a salvage drone or 2? In the rare event I've gotten bored enough to mission half the time I don't bother with the loot or salvage. If someone shows I just blue the wrecks on GP. The logi inherits the limited engagement you have between the 2 wardecced corps (if one existed prior to logi jumping in). |

I agree, when you have logi support then any gank performed on you will have less effect due to the logi repping you up. I would probably allign and wait just to see what would happen. |
