After poking around a bit, I have decided to move an alt out to null sec, and have the opportunity to get him into a renter corp. Yay, and such. However, after taking a good look at their killboards, I see that they are running at 25% efficiency, and have gangs roaming through basically daily. The alliance they are in also lost at least one station in the last money in their rental area. Total corp losses in the last couple months up in well over 100bil.
So, this obviously makes me a bit wary, and makes me wonder how I can best apply myself for this situation. To minimize risk and cost (at least in the beginning, while I adjust) what should I fly and/or do? The alt can explore, and fly up to a Tengu (no BS on him yet) but there is no way in hell I am flying a Tengu out there. (missiles only, limited PvP skills, but could obviously tackle and scan, as well as use Cov Ops)
Being new to Null Sec, with no prior Low sec experience either, and not used to being in an active corp, I want to know how I could best fit in, and if this is likely to work out, or if I should just keep looking for something more stable. (cash isnt a huge problem, but I would like to make money in the end) |

Rental alliances don't defend their own space either, where did the station go, was it transferred to one of the landlord alliances for some reason? ^^ Delicious goon ((tech nerf, siphon, drone assist, supercap)) tears.

No, it was lost to a fight, not moved. And from what I understand about the rental agreement, they have to defend their own area, but are not required to defend outside of their area. |

Im not sure your AWOX and corp theft opportunities are high
Take what you can, blame it on the least liked corpmember and make like a tree "Many have joined the battle, many have survived the tests and trials, but countless have fallen because they weren't the sharpest, the fastest thinking, the most devious, the most ruthless or most intelligent. -áLog in and Compete!"-á- CCP Falcon

Somehow I dont think stealing things, blaming someone else, and running off is going to benefit the corp, lol. |

So gain roles, tear down POS, put everything you can into a hauler, jump into the next best wormhole, set up POS there, drop corp and enjoy the fanmail.
For additional kicks, try to find your way through wormholes into high-sec with only your hauler and the hold with all the valuables you can fit. Sure you most likely end up a pi+Ĥata, but it's not a loss if it's not your stuff to begin with.
Bonus points: Write a blog or make a thread in C&P about it. Sovereignty and Population New Mining Mechanics |

Well, not their corp, obviously.
Yours though. "Many have joined the battle, many have survived the tests and trials, but countless have fallen because they weren't the sharpest, the fastest thinking, the most devious, the most ruthless or most intelligent. -áLog in and Compete!"-á- CCP Falcon

Most "crime" goes unreported and sometimes, in various cases, unnoticed. Some corps make a quite a pretty penny at it.
And it's often enough that roles aren't required, either.

Came in expecting a story about a mentally unstable nullsec corp and how they could fit in.

They are probably being regularly "farmed" for kills after having proved themselves incompetent. With such a low efficiency do not expect anyone to form up and/or lead effective fleet when the bad guys show up. It will probably be every man for himself. So do whatever it is you feel like doing (mining, ratting, site running, complexes) but keep an eye on the Intel channel and an eye on local.
"Situational Awareness" is the absolute key to surviving nullsec. Also some alliances/coalitions let renters participate in their fleets. This would be useful for you to get combat experience. Solo combat is completely different than fleet combat but still a bit of experience in a fleet can make you keep a cooler head and think about your best options instead of panicking the next time you're caught on a gate. |
