Hello, I tried searching but apparently it's broken for me.
So I'm split on on these 2 droneboats and would like to have outside input. It's between:
Standard myrmidon active armor tank with this fit: http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/64846-Myrmidon-629dps-1018-Tank-Post-Retrib-Solo-PvP-Myrm.html
Standard prophecy buffer tank, like this fit (missiles or guns or neuts idc): http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/66821-Prophecy-Obvious-PvP-HAM-Sandwich.html
Solo or very small gang low sec pvp. I've seen the Eve is easy video for the myrmidon's active tank and all that. I know some of the theory for what you do and don't want to engage for them.
I've heard support for the myrmidon, but then the prophecy seems more versatile in targets and high slots, with less module management too.
What do you think? If you were/are a droneboat BC pilot, which would you take out of the hangar to look for a fight with? |

Multiple rep prophecy with nano pumps are very hard to kill ... but they are vulnerable to neut and NOS.

So is there an example out there of a triple rep or multi-rep prophecy? Do you fit it similar to the Myrm? |

I saw people fighting in triple rep / dual CB prophecies with either 3 hardeners+dcu or 2 eanm+dda+dcu. Anyhow, they don't fit a prop and fight in docking range. About as easy to kill as a dual plated damnation... "I honestly thought I was in lowsec"

I would take the Myrmidon, because active tanks are more suited to small gang and solo work, mainly because of the mobility and also because you will want to take fights where you can tank the entire gang or kill stuff fast enough that your tank stabilizes. Also the Myrm is just as versatile as the Prophecy in its highslots, you can go with 5 blasters for max dps, 5 medium ACs for decent dps and capless weapons, full neuts (although this isn't recommended because it will cause you to burn through too many cap charges) or my favourite: 4 Light Neutron Blasters + medium neut for extremely powerful anti frig capabilities.
You can run an active tank Prophecy which will be almost as effective as the Myrmidon but then you run into a big problem, you have to choose between a web or a second cap booster which is a really annoying tradeoff, you really want both. Without a web you'll have trouble dealing with smaller stuff and without a second cap booster, you're extremely susceptible to neuts. With 2 cap boosters you can easily shrug off 1 heavy neut or 2 medium neuts (tested).
In the end it's a personal preference thing of course but I'd say the Myrm is more suited to small gang/solo. |

Thanks for the info so far! So if I ran a triple rep myrmidon, heavy alpha strikers (tornados) shouldn't be too much of a problem avoiding?
Also, I have trouble getting any dda's on my myrmidon at all. 2 eanm 1 dcu 3 reps. Meanwhule I could get 2 minimum on a prophecy. |

BCs are slow and cumbersome, and therefore are easily caught on annihilated by more nimble gangs (lol if you think you are getting a BC 1v1 mate). I hate to storm on your parade, but I think your money would be better spent on a fast, drone-bonused cruiser such as a Vexor Navy Issue, Ishtar, or Gila. The active reps on a Myrm are good on paper, but in practice melt to 3 T1 cruisers. The only saving grace for BCs in very niche scenarios is the Medium MJD, which allows for some silly moves.
Edit: it has also been many years since the original Eve Is Easy videos have been posted, and the metas have shifted dramatically, now favouring small, fast, and mobile ships. I wear my goggles at night.

^ that EVE is Easy video was also shot in null sec, where targets are much softer (F1 monkeys, ex-L4 runners) than actual PVP pilots occupying low sec. I agree with Liam that a combat BC might not be your best bet- however, several things have changed concerning Myrm, like NOS, heavy drones and MMJD. I just bought one to see if it fares any better now. Tbh I don't think it will, but it's somehow special ship that I always dream of flying all the time... but just end up dying.
Heavy alpha is the worst possible for triple rep fit, since triple reps mean you have less resist and least amount of buffer. Correct, triple rep can't fit DDAs. You can try dual rep+RAH and DDA, dual reps are a bit easier to manage and you are not losing that much tank, especially if you choose a MAAR for the other repper.
