you want capital ships in the belts? you wanna be able to pop our big jucies?
we can tell the rorqual was originally designed by pvpers. heres a list of changes by an industrialist with teeth..(i do both, but prefer care bearing).
here is a list of changes/ new ideas for the rorqual that would cause me to put it in the belt.
ive made a compilation from my other posts and some from friends.
1. extend the jump range 2. extend drone control range to 200% like carriers while keeping the same band width 3. 20% bonus to damage AND optimal/fall off range (it needs to be able to reach out and defend miners 150k away from rats) 4. change the boost that of an orca while the siege is not running. when you go into siege, give the same boost as it has now. the orca should never out boost the rorqual under any circumstance. 5. give it a single turret slot for a strip miner. the stripper would have a 200% bonus to yield the same as an unbonused hulk. since the mobility on the rorqual is low (or nil while in siege), give it a 300% range bonus on the stripper. 6. larger clone bay. 7. if the ships maintenance bay is limited to indy only, make it 2.5M for a fleet of hulks. that way, folks can fly to the belt with their combat ships and the rorqual can hold the mining vessels. 8. an industrial only bridge. same range as the others. 9. flop the shield and hull stats. this thing should be a shield beast, but super whimpy once you break its shield. after all, its nothing but cargo holds full of ore. 10. either reduce siege or separate it from boost mode.
this should be a natural step up for miners. we shouldnt loose any mining capabilities by stepping into a boost ship. combat ships dont loose anything. |

Bad idea.
That ship would make you feel like a badass for 10 minutes and you'd get all wet between the legs and take it into a belt and you'd get hot dropped by 5 dreads and die and you would never take it into a belt again.
The Rorqual needs an invulnerability mode in order to do its thing. |

i would take this to the belts knowing the risks. when u live in null and have good intel channels and scouts, you can do this from tie to time. war to the pos and safe up. if you look back at all the threads (off grid boosting, rorquals sitting in the pos, etc.) ccp and everyone else want to force us to take them into the belts. pos boosting is SUCH a waste of $15 a month.
give me a ship that i can use, and itll be in the belts. |

Yes, and there are also rules to allow them to see through the fog of forum clutter.
Not to be too aggressive, but you can post why you didn't repost, can link why you didn't think it would fit in another discussion etc.. That way we can follow your thoughts, logic and maybe not report this right away but give it a chance. We don-Št want to stomp everything down that pops up once in a while.
I will also repost one of my older suggestion, so I wont have to continue with the rant that followed that thread and give participants, old and new, the chance to start fresh and unbiased and don't force them to read through the wall of text, but I am still going to link it for reference, comparison and a reminder of where it went wrong.
Just my thoughts about it.
I was thinking of asking for a sticky for collective mining related threads to collect ideas and weed out some of the clutter. Why not make a start ? Are you sure your issues aren't elsewhere ?! |

Why not make a start ? i submit, it does clog up the forums a little. but, if someone reposts to an original post that is stupid, thats as far as folks read. they get turned off no matter how may good ideas might be below.
i would definitely read the sticky on mining ideas. |

Honestly, a 30-60 second timer on industrial mode, a bonus that causes all rats to target the rorqual instead of anything else in the belt, and changing the capital tractor beam to a mod that allows you to loot a can from anywhere within 150km, would make the rorqual worth using in grav belts and asteroid belts.
The jump range on the ship is already fine, I've never had an issue with drone control range, but turning it into an actual mining ship? No thank-you. We dont need capital miners. Especially not ones with the 120km range mining lasers you propose (might actually be a little closer to 144km with ganglinks)
As for the ship maintenance bay, I already get 5 hulks or 3 hulks and a bustard in mine, seems like more than enough. An industry bridge would be nice though =P |
