1. The average EVE player has 7 million SP.
2. You don't need 20 million skill points to join a "decent corp." I can count out of the thousands of corps in the game the ones that have such a requirement (And its not even a 100% hard-and-fast one) on one hand.
3. Skill points mean nothing next to experience. 95% of the reason you'll lose in combat to a veteran of 2 years when you've played a month or two is in the experience gap, not the skill points.
4. If you really are worried, earn the cash and buy yourself a 30m SP character.

Hmm... my definition of a decent corp wouldn't include those that have large skillpoint requirements.
There are plenty of decent corps out there that will accept new players. The Recruitment boards here and channel in game will help you find them. Also chatting folks up in local is a good way to see who's doing stuff you like to do. So, yes there is a future for new players. My advice would be to figure out what you like to do during your trial period, and once you have a good idea about what will keep you entertained, start looking for a corp that does it.

Er, what? I've never heard of a 20mil SP requirement. There are not all that many 20mil SP players. Player skill, organisation, morale and numbers are more important in practice.
Send me a mail and I might be able to put you in touch with a few good corps.

Most corps I know have a 1M or 2M skill point requirement. I've heard of some corps wanting higher but never 20M.
I started playing a year ago and you will feel a bit lost at first with all the 3 year veterans but there is still a place for younger players. Specialisation is key. Figure out what you want to fly... assault frigtes, interceptors, cover ops, mining barges, or whatever... work out the skills for it and train in that direction. In no time you'll be able to fly it almost as well as a veteran and before you know it you'll have 12M skill points like me.
If you're looking for an industrial corp in empire that take new players eve mail me and I'll put you in touch with some good guys.

What fun would that be? The point of playing the game is to have fun and acomplish this goal yourself; a sense of accomplishment.
