I think that an alliance with sovereignty over a system should be able to rename it, just like an outpost. Thoughts?

good idea in theory, but in practice its too complicated if another alliance takes control and wishes to rename it.

I think this is a great idea. However, the system would also need to keep its alphanumerical designation it has at the moment so it doesn't become impossible to search for systems -----------------------------------------------------------

This should be allowed, with caution. It could confuse some people for sure.

Edited by: ArcticFox on 28/06/2006 02:35:19 It'd have to be somewhat more limited than the station naming system, to prevent overly ridiculous designations, confusion, and the use of it as a tactic in warfare (ie, change the system name every 10 minutes to screw up hostile autopilots, I know people use BMs anyway, but they use AP to orient themselves).
Would be nice if it were something that went through a particular ISD department (existing or otherwise), which was charged with checking the names against a set of conditions before giving the go ahead, and ensuring that an alliance doesn't pull a name change every half hour. Once the ISD department (for roleplay purposes they could be called a department of CONCORD or something, since concord maintains the map and system names and such) approves the change it would be changed after DT. -------------------------- What to do about High Sec Suicide piracy... |

Edited by: Wen Jaibao on 28/06/2006 05:46:26 I see the points about people using it to their advantage.. Maybe like Vera said, the system keeps its alphanumeric name, but also gains a second one. Perhaps on the map and the system, the name could show up as EC-P8R still , with the new name showing up in brackets or seperated by a backslash? That way autopilots wont be borked. And so people wouldnt change the name constantly, it *would* have to go through a screening process like ArcticFox said.
