Is there a method to identify which signatures in a system are worth scanning to 100% and which to not bother with? i read a guide to sig strength but it made a reference to using deep space probes which are no longer in the game.
i found one system with 5 signatures, i scanned them all to 100% and these were the results. the initial 1st scan gave me the following percentages the type was what i ended up with at 100%
1.96au eer-400 2.1% unstable wormhole 5,52au wgb-031 1.7% data site local angel shattered life support unit 4.05au lii-885 3.1% relic site crunbling angel excavation 4.58au prb-434 0.4% data site local angel backup server 4.03au hwb-641 6.1% combat site haunted yard 5.53au iii-856 2.7% unstable wormhole
this was using a buzzard with the following skills etc
8 x sisters core scanner probe base sensor strength 44 points with expanded probe launcher I skills archeology 4 astrometric acqusition 3 astrometric pinpointing 3 astrometric rangefinding 3 astrometrics 4 hacking 3 survey 4
so from the initial first scan resutls above how would i go about eliminating the useless signatures ie wormholes and unrated sites?

I'm not sure but I think there was a graph set up after the removal of Deep Space Probes. However, you don't have to scan each signature to 100%.
Relic, Data and Gas sites will show their type after 25% signal strength. Combat sites and W-Holes will show their type after 75%. Can just click ignore when the type is listed and continue scanning the other Cosmic Signatures.
Also there's filter options available in the scan window but I don't bother with them.
Good luck.

Yah before the probe changes I could id 4/10's in empire with just one scan pass (with core probes, not deep space).
Nowadays, with some practice, you can still figure out some 'trends' but it's never spot on. |

Afaik 4/10, watch, a relic and a data all share same str, and k162 wh shares str with 3/10. Outbound whs have unique str and vigil is very weak, and the relic and data on that str are pretty rare. Vigils in some regions were worth doing IMO. It's all a lot easier after removal of gravs, and shifting of wh and combat out of unknown
Variations in initial str are impacted by range to the probe.
IMO just place 4au pinpoint on each celestial with sigs and you should see mostly yellow type identified sigs, and train more skills, fit more midslot scan str mods if this is not happening. |

you can make a one-probe-setup or use the spread formation at max range and it will work, however with how quick it is to scan sigs to 25 % now (to get type and then ignore what you don't want) i find it's not worth the trouble anymore.
with some practice you will get a grip of what an unknown site might potentially be when you id the type at a certain probe range. |

In null, from what I can tell, if the red sphere fits inside the probe formation with probes set to 4au, then it's not a data/relic, and probably (?) not a wormhole. Of course that doesn't really help if you're actually looking for combat sites. |

I found a 10/10 last night and the red circle fit inside a 6au scan bubble.
I've also found that the harder it is to pinpoint the better the value of the site, ie tech2 rich relic site, 10/10 Complex.
I tend to get 100% on everything and then bkmk the ones I want and leave the rest.
I'm not running the */10's just yet but might have a go once my skills are high enough.
I can normally scan down the relic/data sites within two or three passes depending on ship fit, but I've only noticed the toughness=value thing. |
