I generally don't announce roleplayed news on the forums, but there are times when attention needs to be drawn to them. Some ice fields in high security, high traffic systems will deplete themselves over the coming days, as they were not intended to be in these areas. There are other fields that will suffer the same fate in the near future.
This will have an impact on the ability of smaller corporations and more advanced, new players to generate ISK, but this will also have a (hopefully) major impact on some of the RMT strip mining operations in high-sec space.
Due to caching, some of these depleted ice fields will continue to appear in the client right-click menu. This will be patched out in the near future, but it can also be resolved by clearing your cache. Be warned, clearing your cache can have other effects on your client, such as removing all sorting of bookmarks and other personal settings.

So,this is rather a drastic measure to curb RMT abuse. Gosh darn it, I never mined ICE, or mined for that matter. But I have a feeling we are going to see a ripple effect based on this development.

Well, we'll see a few developments: No more high sec ice fields -->ice will ahve to be mined in lowsec
Less ice fields than asteroid belts in low sec --> concentration of targets for pirates and 'ice' thiefs
--> Ice minning will cost a lot more --> prices for isotopes will skyrocket --> macrominers will switch to asteroid belts in high sec --> even less profitable asteroids for high sec new players trying to learn minning --> less miners ingame who aren't macroers (now wait till tehday macros are autobanned -> less miners, less rocks, higher prics)
So far my ripple prediction. Comments?

Sounds pretty close... I have already bought a tonne and a half of Isotopes and POS materiel. Also, buying up some more as I go along. Might as well cash in on the deal. YAY.

good move CCP congrats and biting the bullet (now killing macroers in a low sec system near u) well there go more roids in mid sec but meh easy enough to remote armour rep those NPCs that attack the macroers

This isn't roleplaying.
It realy bugs me when you anounce a game change in this manner, it's a balancing issue... these things have what.. been with us for a year and a half now....
Never intended.....
Why not just come clean and anounce that you got it wrong, instead of insulting peoples inteligence with the 'never intended' line.
