This is exactly what we/I want to know. You dont need to go into the deep programming details but some good hints wouldnt hurt to give us back the faith into you and the "Operation Macro removal".

"Inner Empire" to me means no NPC rats, which is 1.0 & 0.9...
This will simply displace the MM's...
Which is fine. You're right, the MMs will switch back to ore, but the reason they switched to ice in the first place is because ice depleates very slowly compared to regular astroids. They'll now be forced into lower security areas, where they are easier to deal with. ---- "Well in this case, he's being flamed, and rightly so, for whinning about a game mechanic that doesn't actually exist." -Lorth |

If I didn't, we would not have found out that 1000 accounts were banned in June...
I'm glad they have tools to find and remove these cheaters.
Now I know, b4 Oveur spanked me, I didn't.

Depopulating busy systems = win. Decentralising ice markets = win.
Making ice possibly more expensive = loose. Forcing MM's onto other things = loose.
Thus I reserve judgement.

This will likely increase the cost of t2 items that already have thin margins (which do, in fact, exist). I don't see this moving high-margin items much, such as HACs. However, high-margin items will continue to rise as long as there is a constantly increasing player population with no change in supply. ---- "Well in this case, he's being flamed, and rightly so, for whinning about a game mechanic that doesn't actually exist." -Lorth |

Sorry if I'm being a major **** here, but was just in a thread yesterday of ppl wanting an update on how many accounts you're banning.
Thanks for the number I guess...
I'm not trying to **** you guys off, just was shocked to see that news story, maybe I took it totally the wrong way...

I think this will be very interesting. Ill be studying the markets closely out of interest to see what happens to them. Also be interesting to see what the jita poulation will be like in future....At least this will stop ice macro mining and let the ice prices to stabalise. -----------------------------------------------

It's overdue.
This type of environmental change was suggested last December, and myself and dozens of other people wrote pages at the time, advocating environmental restrictions on currency farming methods.
This is a step in the right direction, but it sounds piecemeal. We are talking 0.9+ right? Jita and so on? It's not enough. Their barges can tank and drone to death everything 0.5+. All you will achieve is geographically concentrating the farmers into infinite-resource systems where they remain invulnerable, and their profit is unaffected.
If you are hoping to see a measurable benefit from this, you are unlikely to do so. You are better off applying this change uniformly to all secure space. If you go for a phased introduction one sec level at a time all the way down to 0.5 inclusive, you will not be doing industrial players a favour by "giving them time to adapt".
Picture it.
A 200-barge blob. In a 0.5 sec ice belt. Drones out.
Goodbye node.

On a more serious note, I'm glad this is happening.
Too many people sit and hide in highsec, if they go out into the game a bit more and experience the whole of Eve rather than sitting in one belt, in one system and actually had to do some work to earn ISK, they'll appreciate what Eve is a whole lot more.
I think you're the one losing site of what Eve is.

I hope I don't do that for you guys...

Read Oveur's post. The main point is to get people out of Jita and such. Affecting MMs is a side benefit.
Now all we need is a concerted effort to unload some large smartbombs in front of the M4 and M5 Caldari Navy stations in Jita, and all will be right with the world. ---- "Well in this case, he's being flamed, and rightly so, for whinning about a game mechanic that doesn't actually exist." -Lorth |

this will stop the 5 day old ice macroers in noob level 1 barges, as they wont be able to tank spawns alone in 0.5s. but they will just move onto ore, this is a rather lameish excuse for CCP to reduce the local population in busy systems, soon they will remove, belts, stations, planets, hek just make it 2 stargets, actually remove those too, there u go, no more lag in the systems anymore cause there 0 people on it and they have moved 1 jump out, this will not solve any problems.

I think thats the first time I actually applaud a nerf
Great idea to remove ice fields from high-sec.
Actually would be fantastic if the ore belts would disappear from 0.5-1.0 systems as well.

I hope this is'nt taken in the wrong tone... but, oveur, could we please start getting news of bans for macros etc on a more regular basis. Likewise, having a Polaris ship hurtle through the most macro-riddled systems every so often is, in all likelihood going to do nothing to identify the macroers... but what it will do is let players see that something is being done. and that psychological warfare will work to bolster the morale of players who are certain that nothing is being done, and it might dissuade a few would-be macro ops from being run, if they fear that GMs are around. Sometimes, a psychological boost, a tangible element that players can identify and talk about when one macroer is buzzed by a GM with a player around to pass on the news to others is worth 1000 bans that no-one hears about. each action of such a visible fashion will work to eliminate these rediculous rumours that CCP is secretly in league with macroers, and is raking in the cash with glee and not caring at all.
while behind-the-scenes action is essential to keeping the play running, having a some action on the front of the stage keeps the punters happy a lot more... if you'll excuse a theatrical metaphor..

I have mixed feelings about this. While being pleased for obvious reasons, I also forsee this making it harder to find racial isotopes in certain regions. While 0.0 regions shouldn't technically be affialiated with any one race, I may soon have to get alot closer to Caldari space to fuel the Caldari POSs I run in Providence which only has Amarrian related ice. Caldari POSs become necessary to make full complex reactions more efficient to keep running as you don't need to have as many POSs. While I am thinking about this, I am also wondering why there is so much racial ice in a 0.0 ice belt. Can't they have mixed racial types? It is not like they are going to be stripped to nothing in 0.0 space.
