I had my desktop set to a drawing of a Rokh during a customer presentation. One of them asked if it was from Star Wars.
So no.

I live in a tiny rural community where being a reclusive gamer type is frowned upon, so no I will never tell my co-workers I play Eve much less let them know I spend time on video games. Thank goodness I am naturally athletic so I can participate in Basketball/Softball leagues in the area or my wife and I would be ostracized :D

I started playing a year and a half ago and got two co-workers and my boss to play. Unfortunately one coworker could not get into it (but at least tried it out) and the boss did not have enough time to spare. As for the other friend at work, he still plays to this day and is a whiz at manufacturing. So we get to talk EvE all the time. Good to have someone you can tell all the good stories to and listen to their exploits as well; makes the day go by faster!

It just so happens that my cubical neighbor worked in the game development industry for 10 years before coming to the company I work for now, and he had played EVE on and off since beta (it's nice to be able to spout off and have someone understand me). I was also able to talk one of the other guys in my department into trying it, but he got bored very quickly and quit without making it through the trial.
I have a big EVE bumper sticker on the back of my car, and no one has ever really noticed. I was expecting honks on the highway and heaps of accolades at the bar, but no dice. |

Must be joking! 130 ish colleagues and not one plays PC games or even how to install one. IT assist is not my job but, over the years, I find their lack of IT skills to be sad and disturbing. A couple of managers couldn't figure out why a new PC wasn't working - it wasn't plugged in! I'm seriously not kidding, and most my fellow EVEies will know what I'm talking about.
Have mentioned EVE to colleagues but they look at me as if I've spoken an ancient language. They would rather watch hours of Big Brother, There are some console gamers but they play CoD or BF.."yea, was wicked, got some points man!". One guy has actually said he wont play EVE because there are no PS4 Trophies.
So yes, some know but I may as well have told them that Cloud storage is actually in a cloud. |

Even in an FPS game it becomes more entertaining to sneak up on them and hit them in the head with a rifle butt. Bring back DEEEEP Space! |

This guy played while deployed. And honestly, given how his boss is, he has the patience of a saint.
So that's a +1 for EVE's easy accessibility in regards to internet connection and graphics requirements. Half the Americans I know first started playing EVE while deployed since it runs on even a ****ty computer and potato internet. I had one where you could cloak and then knife them behind.
Even more entertaining was finding a sniper, and orbital dropping a supply station on him. It would pull him out of scope to pretty much a big metal supply pad on his head. "Splat". Yeah they don't like that. I enjoy a good session of mining. |

My boss and coworkers know; they're familiar with EVE from the news articles that usually cover the big fights out in null.
My boss used to play Quake III, and my coworkers are close to my age, so they're familiar with the wonderful world of gaming!
They're intrigued, but they don't actively play. Though I enjoy telling them about it and what we do and how DUST and EVE work in tandem. Recommendations: -enable ships wobbling in hangar view (pre-Captains Quarters) -add more missions (NPC fleet vs. NPC fleets that actually shoot) -less focus on graphics, more on mechanics...and STOP NERFING EVERYTHING! I go to college under scholarship.
I got into the Lan club (basically the college's online-gaming club) and introduced them to it by actually playing some at a meeting.
The administration chose to test to see if it was a worthy idea to sponsor a corp. 17 other players opened trial accounts to join my own and test EvE. They all played the trials heavily the entire two weeks and worked as a team most of the time.
The college offered to pay for the subscriptions for the entire group a full year.
I am the ONLY player in EvE right now (none of the others took up the college on that offer). When asked why, the others said EvE was NOT friendly to new players.
So, yeah, people know I play EvE and wonder why.
My subscription expires this November. I will be playing other games after then. |

When I first started playing EvE (2005), one of my coworkers and his dad started playing. Then I told my boss about it, and he started playing EvE too.
All of us got addicted in our own way. My coworker and his dad quit after a few years. My old boss still plays, but I don't see him online much.

I worked in the IT service industry for a while, and I swear I flew with one of my clients. I recognized his voice. I asked him one time over email if he had ever heard of EvE.
He never responded. He was probably worried about all those times he was stoned on voice comms. haha
