Mr. Epeen, J'Poll, Altirius, it's great to hear that people like the cast. We do it for fun, and appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you guys!
Ima Wreckyou, I'm still trying to understand the game, and I appreciate any help I get. I'll check out the website, thanks for the suggestion. |

Flopsy Dlgaming wrote:Oh, if you are interested in just the Eve portion of the podcast, it starts at 52 minutes in. Thanks guys!
And apologies if we got any of the information incorrect, we are still in the process of figuring it all out. EVE-O discussion starts at 00:56 (for those who want to save themselves 4 minutes of Xcom talk).
Some comments: -"Very good tutorial" - seriously? -You guys should probably briefly research the subscription options instead of muddling through them, for the sake of newbies listening in -You guys do a good job talking about some of the aspects that personally attracted me to the game: brutal no holds barred pvp everywhere, single shard, spaceships, decent graphics -I started cringing as an EVE player when docking in stations was compared to a town in WoW.. not because of how you were explaining it. I can see how it's hard to explain to a new player about docking (and btw, you can't walk around anywhere), undocking, high security, low security, all these minute and detailed semantics which are important enough to know so you don't get killed.
Good job with the podcast. It has a decent amount of information. Also, comparing EVE to Star Trek.. good! .. when everything else is gone .. |

Thanks for the feedback Sibyyl!
Yeah, we are all very newbish to the game, so apologies if we didn't get everything correct. Next podcast I'll do an update and hopefully correct some of our incorrect information.
As far as the tutorials go, I thought they did a decent job of explaining things, but I'm sure it's more of the "I don't know what I don't know yet" kind of thing. I'm sure I'll look back in 6 months and laugh at it.

So far in the game (and forums) people have been nice, outgoing and friendly. I'm sure there are plenty of grievers, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the maturity and consideration of Eve players. You know nothing Jon Snow
NCQA is always helpful, here in GD on the other hand, it's as harsh as the game, because parts of the metagame gets played out here some would say it is an important part of the game
Quote:P.S. The space mike tyson thing you got going kinda scares me. lol Nobody has said that since I last tweaked my avatar
edit ~ With reference to the tutorials, they don't even begin to scratch the surface of Eve, the scope of it is immense. Take a look at http://swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/ for a rough idea of what's available to you.

It is your opinion and is perfectly valid!
I'm usually ok with a wall of text, personally.. but a lot of the tutorials were walls of text with Aura's picture next to it. Maybe you're like me and you read it and the text made sense but I can see a player's eyes glazing over with that kind of thing.
The wall of text also gets more intimidating if you don't have the best screen resolution. The un-resizable window gets pretty intimidating as you try to move it away from inventory, fitting window, mission conversation, station services, etc. .. when everything else is gone .. |

Haha, I know what you mean. I guess I tend to read mission texts and all to get the full experience, so the tutorial wasn't too onerous to me. Digi, the other caster who played, definitely had a harder time with it than I did.
I've heard the tutorials were redone a while back. I couldn't even imagine playing this game without some tutorial. It would have been incredibly daunting. |

I havent gone through the tutorial since my first days when I joined in 2010. Back then I was on a 50" tv as my monitor. Text wasnt hard to read, but I do remember myself wishing they would of had some vocal audio recording of the tutorials. Walls of text were tedious to go through. |

Haha, I think they must have improved it since then. They were fun for me, learning about the game. |
