Or a clown's pocket.
Also, I spent quite a while in Hong Kong and speak precisely 1 word of Cantonese, so yeah it's possible to live there and never speak the tongue.

I downloaded and installed EVE CN and I can say it's 100% hopeless. I have no chance of understanding anything and it'll be like WoW: fly around in the hope I do things right. So I've decided that my only option is to put up with the dc's and the lag and play here.

Pay proxy and you can have better connection to TQ.
I know some Chinese players who chose to stay in TQ and use proxy to connect in order to get better connection to TQ.
Eve in Chinese is hard...when I tried to help some Chinese players on TQ, it can be difficult for me as I have no idea how they translated some game terms into Chinese. At least HAC translation is intuitive but some of the translations are "weird"...
Besides, lags are better in TQ according to some Chinese players who comes back and visit us on TQ when their server's down. Population is often 20K or above and exceeds 30K easily during peak time. There are over 100 ships waiting to get into jita, forming some spectacular lines in space....
You think TQ's lag and traffic advisory is bad...you haven't tried the China server yet. I downloaded the client out of curiosity but installation already killed me, it's all ???? symbol when I tried to install eve China as my system cannot handle the Chinese install :(
