Rens System Security -
At 02:45, July 20, YC116 there was an explosion at the Planet 6, Moon 8 Brutor Tribe Treasury station, in the GÇÿeastGÇÖ wing of level 16's luxury cabins, reserved primarily for capsuleers.
Two people have been injured, with one receiving minor injuries while the other remains in a critical condition. Station security are withholding the names of the victims until family have been contacted.
We have ascertained that the explosion was not accidental nor due to a mechanical fault and the situation is being considered a malicious but isolated incident.
We currently have no suspects and we ask for any witnesses to come forward.
The station has not been compromised and services continue to operate as normal.

Ana, you will find more information on this incident within our internal relays.
Sammie MacWinters wrote:Whoever did this better run.
It doesn't seem likely it would be a random terrorist style attack, specifically being it was a targeted within area that only select persons would have access to. So at this point I am going to take the stand that whoever did this intended to hurt members of Gradient - so as Sammie has stated, running might be a good idea. Gradient will respond as necessary.

I was looking for more info concerning this attack, as I have hardly any contacts within the minmatar, I have no choice but to ask this publically. On the above suggestion, I have no knowledge of the internal minmatar relays, save for Gradient, but at the time I was on, they were equally information-less & shocked about this attack as I was. Also contacting Rens local presence yielded no results either.
1) Location. It is mentioned it occured in the East Wing of the 16th level of the Rens treasurey station, in the Luxury capsuleer quarters. However, no mention if it was inside a cabin, or the more public capsuleer venues in the cabin wing.
2) victims: while victims are mentioned and names are not handed out, for good reasons I might add, there's no mention where they are Gradient, or even minmatar. For all we know the explosion could have been targetting amarr capsuleers visiting Rens, so pelase do not jump to conclusions until more info about the victims is released! Such basic info would help alot to quell rumours
3) additional general info: Was there any event prior to the explosion? Capsuleer party, or perhaps something else? As the authorities shared that this is indeed an attack, but also an isolated incident, on what do they base this conclusion? As long as there's no suspects, assuming it is an isolated incident is a very dangerous road to take!
Looking forward to replies from official authorities, private contact & mail also possible. Slaves rescued in Jita! -á-áEve Online Hold'Em; Play real poker for-áisk! |

As has been mentioned there was an incident involving two Gradient Pilots that appears to have been targeted at those pilots. Motive remains unclear at this point in time, but both the Brutor Tribe Treasury and GRD are currently working together to investigate this matter.
One of the pilots involved is seriously injured and doubt remains on her ability to clone jump out should the body die, whilst the other is in a stable condition being kept for observation.
While the information we have is that the members were targetted because of who they were - this does not mean that other capsulleers should not take precautions. The location of the attack was a private cabin, and no information exisits to suspect that public areas are currently unsafe.
As can be well understood - I take any attack on my pilots seriously - and due to the ongoing nature of the investigation I am not prepared to release all the details we currently have for general consumption. It is simple enough that GRD regards this as an act of war and it will be dealt with as such. = so operational security takes precedence.

People, sealed environments generally don't mix well with explosives, whoever did this risked far more than just the two pilots targeted - thousands could have died.
Good hunting, Gradient. "You let one of them go, but that's nothing new is it? Thank you for the official response Mr Drant and it will surely help in quelling rumors. While it was indeed true that Gradient members were mentioned as the victims, I prefer to base my reports on official sources & solid reasoning
To raise awareness to this attack, I ran a publication on it: Bombing in Rens, Gradient Capsuleers attacked!
May you find the culprits soon and let them face justice!

An Update:
Ava is in stable condition, having received no serious injury. She is due to be released sometime today.
Sammi is still in critical condition, and is in surgery.
I will share further information as soon as I feel we can safely do so. For now, internal security requires that we be a bit tight-lipped.
Be vigilant.
Ms. Ymladris, thank you for your report. Reliable secondary news sources are in short supply. GÇ£Crying is all right in its own way while it lasts. But you have to stop sooner or later, and then you still have to decide what to do.GÇ¥-á

Oh, then that means they've violated the informal convention amongst capsuleers.
That is, there is a convention that one does not attempt to assassinate someone outside of the capsule, as that demonstrates the fragility of the whole demi-immortal shebang.
Because if someone's clone banks get targeted, then why stop at that one individual ? why not exterminate all opposing capsuleers ? And then the paranoia, because if you were able to assassinate someone out of pod, then... someone else could assassinate you !
So, it begins.

Without pre-judging the potential result - I can think of a few ideas.
Most forget we are immortal, and they think we can clone jump at any point. mmmmm ..... perhaps a simple stasis field in a secure environment preventing all movement , but allowing conscious thought - for ever.....
I would not wish that on most of my enemies but if the knife fits into the sheath... |

And pop goes the implant self-destruct. Not exactly a pleasant experience, even if you get to make a really funny face before losing however much memory you've accumulated since the last upload but quite preferable to whatever a stasis field is. I honestly can't think of a way to take out a decently prepared capsuleer without taking out their clone contracts first and if you manage to compromise one of the best secured and distributed systems in the cluster you're quite far beyond any capsuleer.
From what I can tell, unless CONCORD takes an acute interest, any capsuleer behind this will get away with it with no more than the usual financial cost of ships going pop, which happens often enough anyway.
The false flag aspect of this sounds more interesting and likely though. Prime Node. Ask me about augmentation.

Thank you to the well wishers, for the thoughts and offers of help. I am very relieved to report I am fine; I was in my apartment at the time of the explosion, and the heavy security door did its job. The attack does not appear to have been targeted at me. We will keep everyone updated, as it is safe to do so, on the status of Ms. Oskonnur.

So, I'm back in the world of the waking.
I have no idea what's gone on- Apparently it hasn't even been that lounge.
As for my injuries- I was given a choice: Either I lose four very important moths of my memory, forever, by cloning, or I lose the ability to control my lower body and arcs entirely.
As it is, I shake too much to type this, and everything hurts, so I'm using text to speech.

I mean, my condolences on your injuries and best wishes for a swift recovery and all that, but that "four months" thing would only apply if they cold-cloned you, and seeing as you're awake and alert you should be fit to just body-hop and be done with it.
There's simply a lot of important brain that's not there anymore. I have a microcontroller bridging some of the gaps. The way the clone technologist types explained, scanners read neuronal connections and rebuild those. You can't scan something that doesn't exist.

You might want to look into a paper in the Hedion University Journal of Medicine published in YC113. All about the scar-free regeneration of damaged brain tissue using artificial neurons. The entire cloning process hinges on the predictable and methodical way in which neurons grow and interconnect, and that research adapted the idea in a few new directions. Given that for the purposes of the cloning procedure there is no difference between a synthetic neuron and an organic one, a course of that treatment might bridge the gaps adequately to allow memory-intact cloning.
Though the therapy could take a while, and wouldn't be able to begin until you've rehabilitated a bit further. Still, it's a future prospect. Thanks for answering my question: If your injuries are half as severe as they sound, I now hold the medics who tended to you in high esteem. I'll have to ask one of the medical professionals. It sounds promising but also potentially like it could really interfere with capsuleer training stuff.
