Nope, using the skiff as an escort miner for retrievers and if the penalty for doing so gets larger, I won't do that, and people I mine with would stop switching between proc and retriever as they currently do.

In actual fact the recent rebalance of the mining vessels is one of very few things CCP has done well in recent times. I do still feel that as the Procurer has a Battleship sized tank it should have a similar build cost/requirement and not be as cheap as it is.
The Procurer sells for substantially less than it costs to make.
The reason is people made tens of 1000s of the things back when they were like 3 mill each to produce and those stockpiles are still mainly intact.

There are a couple of issues I think should be revisited - like the slot numbers. The Cov/Hulk has three highslots, on the Covetor that's half its module slots. The Procurer has the same three highslots in effect, due to the yield bonus (it also has an effective 66% cap use reduction bonus) yet its slot count is addressed on the "physical" slots. Then look at the fitting stats, the Covetor and the Retriever have the same PG, but the Covetor has to fit an extra 10MW module on there... The most recent modifications (including the warp cap use tweak) seem to have been made without consideration of the legacy.
One other incongruity is the assembled volumes - they're still tiered. Which means that the Fleet focussed ship takes more room in a ship maint, providing a small pressure for fleets to use the smaller, tanky one... |

True enough, but there are times I'll swap out a Retriever/Mack for a Procurer/Skiff if there's been a gank in system. I'll deal with the increased trip time to keep myself alive and from losing ISK on a destroyed barge. :)
That is why before sentence you emphasized I wrote this:

Someone from this thread mailed me in-game to tell me that I was wrong about the Hulk and that it did "need" a bigger ore hold. They said that Hulks needed more ore hold because when they're multiboxing 12 miners in nullsec they can't handle the micromanagement.
I politely explained to them that CCP doesn't balance the game around multiboxing, which they didn't seem to grasp.
Seriously, if 12 Skiffs or 12 Mackinaws isn't enough income for you, maybe you're trying to do too much by yourself in a Massively MULTIPLAYER Online Game.
As a word to the wise, I would avoid broadcasting the fact that you are often in nullsec multiboxing 12 miners, having trouble micronamaging them, and thus wouldn't notice an impending gank launched by someone on the forums who ran a locator agent on you Malcolm Lionel. I can guarantee you one thing he will notice is a gank coming on him. that is 100% certain. |

What my esteemed adversary was reffering to is the time when the only exhumer people used to mine in was a Hulk. You'd see a Mackinaw every now and then in an icebelt, but t1 barges or even worse... a skiff? Rarely. |

Hmm. I hadn't thought of that aspect. Although selling something for less than it costs to make is like shooting yourself in the foot. Even if you can still make a profit it's just ******* up the market. Of course I realise it's CCPs fault for introducing the now removed 'extra materials' mechanic. |
