#1Posted: 2014.07.22 04:09 | Report | Edited by: Toon Holding Hello,
I am currently running a late 2009 27' iMac with the follow specs: Late 2009 IMac 27 Inch ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics 4GM RAM Quad core i5 2.66GHZ Intel Processor 1TB HD 27Inch screen with 2560 by 1440 pixels
I have had a amazing experience with the computer in terms of amazing visuals, however the graphic card is a dinosaur now so its time to upgrade to something much much more powerful.
The newest iMac with the following specs fills my budget of $2,500 and gets me everything I need.
Mid 2014 iMac 27 Inch 3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X8GB 1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5 27Inch screen with 2560 by 1440 pixels
The reason why I love the iMac is because for $2,500 I get a amazing screen, a reliable computer that will work for years without needing repairs (from my previous experience) and everything comes in a box with 1 cord. So its very easy to set up and its simple ease of mind.
Or I could research into building a custom computer, however then I get into issues of compatibility of what if I do something wrong and $2,500 goes down the drain. I understand PC is a better computer for gaming however there is also allot more knowledge that needs to go into it.
Also EVE graphics do need seem to have full settings for Macs, unlike for Windows operating systems.
Anyone have any suggestions or comments for me please?
*** The monitor is key in the pricing, I will not go below 2560 X 1440 Pixels or below 27'inches ***
Also there is rumours that a Retina Display iMac will becoming out later this year which i will wait for before making any decisions.
Thank you, |

Currently I'm running on a custom built PC, from my personal viewpoint I'd say go for PC. If you are worried about messing stuff up when building it there are a few sites that custom build them and ship them ready to use. Also with PC you'll get more bang for your buck since you're not paying for branding as much.
My spec 3.2 ghz i5 quad core 8gb ram Amd 8450 hd gpu 1tb hdd 240gb ssd Liquid cooling 32" hd tv as my monitor :p
That can run two eve clients and space engineers at once and doesn't even slow at all |
