I Dreamed a Dream, Crius.
In the last month I had hoped that all the new changes to industry would bring CHAOS to the Economic landscape of New Eden.
This was the dream, a kind of economic battle with countless victims that would Rival any Ship battle ever seen in EvE.
Unfortunately I, recently have come to accept the changes will create very little in the form of EconWar.
I must Admit all I see is New industry hubs forming, (double that of our current market hubs) divided between H-Sec, L-Sec and Null.
At best we could have maybe 2-3 weeks of opportunity resulting from limited market chaos.
Tell Me I am wrong, Will there be the Chaos I had once dreamed of ?
Anyone Dare to predict incoming EconWar or Peaceful transition ? |

My guess as a station trader: Nothing will happen. The new patch will change some prices for certain production lines but during the last weeks a lot of items already went up in price. I know that a lot of trader started buying big stocks of materials and products, so the prices will peak for a week or two until they fall down to normal. For myself I didnt make the calculation if items will be more expensive afterwards or not, but I dont expect any chaos. |

What i think will happen for sure - Decentralization of production in what capacity who knows, that depends on how cluttered it will be around the current trade hubs and how accessable compressed ore will be.
What i think could happen - That is more difficult to describe, it depends on how the miners will react. Right now it is like mine stuff, refine in system, sell it as bulk to someone or ship it off to a trade hub. The question is how often ore will be compressed, if compressing is used by "a lot" nothing will change, if not you may see production settling in "mining" systems.
A lot depends on transportation costs and by that i don't mean only ISK but the oppurtunity cost of transport = time, too. I could imagine this, a nice tugged away constellation not too far away from the current trade hubs with a lot of mining systems could spark a new trade hub. Maybe we will see outlet stores in the wild and players will buy there and haul it to the supermall.

The costs for high sec courier contracts are a damn joke at the moment. I dont think that new trade hubs will come up. It is more likely that we will see an increase of courier contracts. Still easier for producer and miner to put everything into a contract then the market and waiting hours/days/forever until its sold. |

I would really like to see Jita, challenged in terms of Trade. That being said, it is hard to see players creating more local and competitive trade hubs. I personally dislike the travel times involved.

Great Question. I don't think players will want to do the extra work involved to compress (pos+fuel+wardec). Unless the Profit Margins Demand it to be competitive. I wonder, if we do see production lines form around mining systems, will ganking follow. |

Absolutly, transport costs are a joke ... yet. But with increased tranports by number and volume m^3 costs will rise, question is will it be significant enough to warrant a decentralized production, we will see.
