I have read a lot of mixed feelings about the patch but the biggest thing seems to be that you no longer need an indy alt, or even an indy focused character to make things effectively now. Due to this and the increased cost to make ships do any of you plan to move on to another facet of Eve |

Obligatory: Can I have your stuff? Just drop those "useless" blueprints in a item contract and I'll give them a good home.
Seriously? Basically this all boils down to "I don't wanna change", right? We can rebalance every ship under a thousand suns, but if CCP dares to change the industry clickfest... Trying out all the things to do here in Eve - it's quite a checklist. So I made a blog Jakob's Eve Checklist |

no, it boils down to me not feeling the end result is worth sticking 30bn worth of BPOs in a POS in order to carry on doing what i was. |

I've already torn down all of my towers and done all the invention and manufacturing I need to keep my alts in modules and ammo for a year or so, so I'm just watching for now. May tinker with it a bit as more bugs are patched, but for now I'm out of the industry game. amiright?
So yeah, in that case sell your BPOs on the market and use the funds from that to fire up an blingy incursion runner, or fund your next market trading empire, or even just buy enough plex that you can futz around the game for three fricken years to find something else you like.

Hell no I'm not bowing out. If anything I'll be ramping up. Mostly in stations and with NPC haulers of course. I will be giving things a little bit to get settled before I go back at it hard, but I'm just waiting and watching while I get my stuff reorganized. |

from a personal point of view, the alternatives are not a viable option. Defend a POS just wont happen because i cant guarantee been online during every 24 hour period in order to remove said BPOs, and installing in a station was a no go the minute it showed that it would take 444d to ME research a freighter from scratch, when it would have taken a hell of a lot less previously.
...............so research is a no-go for me, thats all. |

There are strong reasons to consider not participating in reasearch, its like the old "ships built without extra materials" thing, but now everyone keeps their researched bpos, that more often than not took 1/10 of time and money to make. |

At this point I am far too invested into industry. I could sell all of my bpos I supppose, but it would take a lot of time. I am going to take a brief hiatus from industry though and see where the dust settles. For now, I am going to start up some heavy PI. |

So you stick them in a station, make copies and stick the copies to the POS. Copies are nearly free to make and there are no assembly line limitations for making them.
Oh sorry, too hard, extra step, slit wrists and jump off balcony.

Yes, there's a limitation to making them. It's called Laboratory Operation and Advanced Laboratory Operation.

Gonna wait for the dust to settle as well. Just found out that the costs to produce what I used to produce are about the same as the profit now. Let's see how the market reacts
I will hold on to the last pile of products from those last jobs I started before the patch - and then we will see, I guess. |

And what will you do with the ISK you make from the "spike"? Presumably everything you buy is going to cost a lot more so you know, whatever. |

I was fully ramped industry before and I am staying that way. I have made some changes in the last couple of months but they have been changes that are not really affected by the patch. Moving from making T2 in high to making caps in null is an idea that's been around forever.
Pre-patch I did do a flurry of research and as of today have over 200 BPOs that are perfect, so that sting has been mitigated somewhat. A number of the gems in my 90 billion ISK BPO collection still aren't perfect though and now will take years to get that way, but they're all ME 7%-9% under the new system and I think I can work with that.
I'll be downgrading one of my POSes to small and adding a refining POs. I'll still be using the same alts, as while Material Efficiency (Advanced Industry) is no longer critical, I still have use for the Advanced Mass Production 5 and Advanced Lab Ops 5, and of course the horde of PI alts and DST pilots all have their place, as does the personal multi box mining fleet.
Right now I am just anxious to dig into the utilization of teams, and have much more to be excited about than to dread. The only real kick in the teeth from the patch is the jump fuel increase as I have switched from freighter transport to JF/Rorq transport, and transportation management is now going to be the critical factor in my success. Being in null really seems to simply replace industry job install costs with transportation costs.
Market fluctuations from the ore market and the system cost indexes will have an influence on how I do industry, but not whether I do industry. There are things that I am waiting and watching, some things that I am actively figuring out, but for the most part I am still charging forward. |

So, All of the blueprints I have that I spent so much time on are now all at perfect points, but all the levels I spent months researching are no longer a thing... So the value has gone down since anyone with less research than me can get the same result much faster.
That's cool. Yay sweeping changes to how something as painstaking as how long research takes. |
