In the continuing theme of trying to be all things to all people, and THE single resource of delicous EvE information and content, your Dark Lord of Crux has posted...
The counter-ganking safety manual.
Yes spacefriends, carebears can NO LONGER wail and gnash their teeth that they 'weren't informed' about the realities of hisec not being safe, nor how to protect themselves against ganks.
The intent here isn't to nerf ganking or to white-knight, but provide a handy link for the inevitable future gank victims that refuse to follow its advice, and mistakenly call for nerfs instead. I intend to jam this post down the throat of each and every fail-bear in the future who wails 'nerf ganking!'. F#)$(#!

If you get in with the right corp, you can get out to null or low sec space and avoid ganking all together. Ganking seems to be a issue only in high security space, not so much in null/low sec. |

Thought that too before I was turned into scrap by a large CODE gate camp deep in Lowsec while I was roaming for targets, besides, just yesterday a small gang tried to take out 2 retrievers mining in a system I was in, but the miner luckily had a Hurricane on guard and got them first. +1 to NON-AFK MINERS! Simple: stop playing Netflix Online and start playing EVE Online.
I dont see the point of playing a game when you dont actually play the game.
If I want to do something else then play EVE I do something else and not log in (or at least wont undock). Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

The trick is to get ganked less often than what you make between ganks. You can't really completely avoid them. It will happen. But if you made 1B isk then losing that 50M miner ship is meh.
Sometimes gankers don't even do for the iskes. But the iskes can be good. Death and Glory!

Must have missed the one where they used thoraxes to kill the Fully tanked skiff in a 0.9 then. That guy thought he was safe mining afk, but he was not, nobody is
Eventually someone will get you
Simple solution DONT GO AFK IN SPACE Is it bad if your friend says "that was a Metaphor" and you say "Meta 4? Get Tech II or faction" ?I love the sound of silent explosions in Space.-á |

You are quite correct, there is no ganking in null, it's all consensual PvP when you are not docked in an NPC-owned station. |

well, by that metric, there is no ganking in empire space either One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Nah, difference is that in hisec it's non-consensual (outside of kill rights and wardecs of course). |

Nope. You have the false impression that high-sec is PvP free zone.
The moment you hit ANY undock button, you are agreeing with the possibility of PvP hence it's always consensual PvP.
Even a suicide gank is PvP...as it involves 1 player (or multiple players) vs another player. It is as much PvP as combat ship vs combat ship in a duel or a war as the "victim" could have taken precautions to prevent being the target of a suicide gank. Unlike combat vs combat, where you decide what to do during a fight, a suicide gank you decide the outcome before you even undock. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Premises: 1. It's consensual PvP when not docked in a NPC station. (given by you, Adrie) 2. "Flying in space" (AKA "Undocking"), regardless of system sec status is, by definition, "Not docked in [a NPC] station".
Therefore:
There is no ganking in Eve Online, regardless of system security status. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Tanking Exhumers is a good idea but for T1 mining barges the ISK you lose from dropping your scanner/MLUs isn't worth the potential savings. The best way to avoid a gank is to stay away from gankers. I found a 0.5 where I can safely mine watching Netflix and haven't been ganked once. |
