Hey guys, first off, I'm no professional when it comes to programming, I have worked with API's a decent amount in the recent past, I have made many little programs in the past 10-15 years, all self-taught, and mostly with Visual Basic or C#. I am interested in creating an industry tool that links up to Eve-Central. It'll be for myself for the time being, but once developed I'll gladly provide it to the eve community free of charge. I know there are probably a lot of them out there already, but none that I've found to meet my needs.
I've been trying to link the EvE Static Dump provided by CCP to my Visual Studio projects with no luck. I've not a lot of experience with databases in general, though I've just finished a class in college relating to databases and SQL, so I'm not a total noob. I'd like to use the dump and am wondering if there is a MS Access version available. It'll only be used for industry at the moment, so will require tables relevant to BPO's and their required matericals and build times etc. The reason I ask for MS Access files is because that is what I just went through in college, and I can open them fairly easy to take a peak. If anybody could help me here it'd be much appreciated. I have been fairly successful with industry in eve, and very successful with PVP (CPP has ruined the game for the smart people and decided we should all be a bunch of robots instead of thinking for ourselves and having profitable fun in small gangs, hence the move to industry).
Any and all help will be appreciated, and if the right person provides the right help I may just compensate them in game ;) |

Also, the table which shows what "TYPEID" relates to as far as the ingame item would be a big help. |

That would be the invTypes table.
And if you just want to work with static data without too much hassle, consider checking out the project i just launched. Static data in JS/HTML with no need to fuss over dynamic back ends or setting up SQL servers. If you can write JS, you can write a tool that uses static data using that library. |

My knowledge of JS is extremely limited. I plan on writing all of this code in VB. I have limited knowledge of SQL commands, but if I could somehow link the static dump to my vb project I have previous projects from school that I could refer to in order to query the database. |

Your best bet then is probably to look at an sqlite version. These are static files just like MSACCESS that don't require any kind of external database server running, so you can just deploy them directly with your application.
This site has the static data in many formats: https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/dump/
You want the sqlite-latest.sqlite.bz2 file (you'll need 7-zip to open that on Windows).
Then just google for some sqlite tutorials using VB.NET. Here's one at random that looked reasonable.
It should be very similar to using a static data source like MSACCESS.

If you're not going to use most or all of the SDE, I would consider just exporting the tables you're interested in to json or xml. Json is very easy to use with Json.Net, available online or in a Nuget package. Xml you can manipulate with the XDocument class directly. This way you have the data you need for market analysis without the entire file size of the SDE in your application. |
