Before I quit the game some 2 years ago I was set up for L4s in highsec, with a nice decked out Nightmare and a Noctis for salving and looting. Easy and fast cash to fund Plexes and everything else the heart desired. It was carebear heaven.
Now I have returned and I find my former e-life in shambles. Salvage prices have dropped significantly, loot is all but worthless, while PLEX prices have skyrocketed. Missions seem pointless now, yet that's all I have the skills/equipment to do.
Any advice as to where to go from here?

Incursions, fly with one of the many groups that do them daily and upgrade your fit to their standards. I recommend The Ditanian Fleet for armor, The Valhalla Project for shield. Good isk + LP from incursions and you even get to be social and gain experience with fleets.
From there once you're comfortable, consider your options as incursions can be done along side other professions. |

Get used to the idea that you shouldn't pay for every month with a PLEX. Unless you want to get into something that's actually profitable, like trading or WH escalations |

Do what you enjoy, don't just think about isk. If you like to mission, do it, even if you don't get enough to plex. EVE is not a job, it's a game. You can pay 15 $/Gé¼ for a month, or ? What else can you do for your fun with 15 $/Gé¼ ? a cinema + popcorn, 2h entertainment, then the rest of the month nothing. Favoritism is good - CCP 2013 |

If you want to mission then it can be still be decently profitable, but you need to blitz them now to get returns close to what you used to (even then it'll be less if you want to balance standings because you'll be declining some storyline missions due to having way more mission completions or just changing agents a lot).
Find a cluster of systems with some corps with LP stores offering a decent exchange rate on a few items and keep a couple of different ships so you can swap into whatever gets the mission done the fastest.
Some other options are incursions, faction warfare plexes in low-sec (even an alt can run those in a small ship). high level wormholes (will need a good corp but the isk making can huge), ninja exploration in 0.0 is possible thanks to wh's too if you have those skills trained....or there's tons of 0.0 renter corps always looking for players to rat their systems.

Dunno, 16-32k lp should be doable easily in a hour, thats 24-64m, 12-33 hours a month for a subscription, just from the lp, no (small) mission rewards, no lucky 4m drops, no salvage.
And im talking t1 bs with mediocres skills, not a mach :)

I run Sisters of EVE (or sometimes Thukker/Trust Partners or Creodon) missions every night in a Machariel and I let Pro Synergy handle all the salvaging. I make great isk.

you do what you did before, but better. I can still plex my account from missions only and run one or two a night. |

Sounds to me that the OP was doing it wrong 2 years ago. LP is where the isk is really at, not loot and salvage. |

Missions still pay very well. Who said the loot is ****? Salvage isnt worth much yeah but everything else is still profitable and i doubt you will get more ISK in Incursions if you consider the factor of finding fleets and stuff. I make an easy 120-150mil an hour with my Nightmare, i do NOT blitz, there are only 2 missions i blitz. My LP / Isk Ratio is betweek 3000-3500 isk/lp. So missions are far from pointless, i cannot imagine a better way to make isk in high sec. |

partly, if u can do 2-2.5 8k lp missions in an hour with complete cleanout which i did with a t1/t2 fit raven navy the ratio is balanced or in favour of the pure isk. And for your statement half a year after mtu release i still got on average 15M to 20M per mission in salvage and loot. Cant tell how crius changes hit eve now so. |

Salvage prices are down 50% in the past half year, random loot is down 50%-70% since last month for some reason. The history doesn't go as far back, but I imagine they were even higher 2 years ago.
As for blitz vs. loot, IIRC it was a wash so I settled for salv to have a change of pace in between.

Random loot down in missions too? Fallen off completely in the DEDs I've been running. |

Trading and wormholes are not the only isk makers in this game capable of plexing an account. To many other options to list here, but being a sandbox game, I am sure the OP could find a way. Matter of fact, I know plenty of single account holders who still plex their accounts monthly just running missions.... Not as hard as you think.
On a side note, a good buddy of mine, runs every high sec anom/ghost site he sees , some nights he will go on 2-3 hour trips. He has made enough isk to plex his account. You would be surprised at the amount of isk that can be made from something as simple as running these often overlooked highsec anoms, he even runs the drone sites lol. WIth the escalations and the random drops, the isk adds up. I'm just a modern day caveman in search of a bigger club. |

What do you like doing ? If you prefer HS and missions, then stick with it or do incursions, you have the ship for it. Null PVE is quite profitable, just need to find the right corp, ie null sov corps require you to pew pew at their will, renter corps give you similar benefits but without the politics.. LS imo unless you doing FW isn't great for isk making. Best though is to get in to a good corp and grow from there.. I could suggest one that has many options available.. Feel free to grab me in game mail/chat and I will be happy to help out... . |

Income in highsec got touched a little, but due to the efficiency of third party help like red frog, pro synergy, and wholesale loot buyers in trade hubs I'm making more than ever with even less effort.
Seriously, if you're not contracting your empty mission sites to Pro Synergy, Having your LP items hauled to market by courier contract, having other couriers bring your ammo and other supplies to your hub, and contracting piles of your misc. loot to the traders who will eagerly pay Jita-buy for it, then you're wasting time and effort trying to do it all yourself.
Yeah, each one of those folks takes a cut, but they also free up hours of your life not hauling, making orders, or warping around with a salvager. That means more time burning missions or more free time in general. I'll spare you the cliche "multiplayer game," lines, but seriously, the EVE economy is absolutely full of creative services that can increase your isk/hr. Don't ignore them. |

Salvage I can't really speak to, I mean last time I really cared I was getting 500k isk per, whatever that thingy for cargo expanders is that mostly comes from angels, 200k for armor plates, and 500k for melted cap consoles. Now Salvage is just something that comes from setting and forgetting salvage drones and ending up with some random stuff in my cargo that I can sell later. I just didn't do ANYTHING with salvage for a few years in between.
Loot I mean I would grab some with my marauder. now I usually just grab whatever my mobile tractor unit brings in. I mean I remember arbalest heavy launchers selling for 15 mil a pop. yt-8 microwarp drives were something like 10mil each, and meta 4 med neuts were around 10 mil. now the only loot that seems notable is meta 4 scramblers, webs, and damage controls. the rest of it seems to sell at reprocess value. oh yea reprocessing got a big change with the industry patch, so that is why random loot prices dropped a bunch. Still I mean that was all just bonus isk for me (well tbh I mostly reprocessed it as my alt had standings and skills to do it perfectly) You can trust me, I have a monocole |

The Noctis was superceded by the MTU some time ago.
The max ISK/hour is by blitzing anyway.
Blitzing level IVs in a Nightmare for a high ISK/LP corp should get you a monthly plex in a couple of nights missioning. |
