Hey guys
i have been playing around with excel 2014 and trying to make a line chart with my api let me be brutally honest im lost with it all
i have found my self reading one thing about api and ending up with my head super deep in stuff i just dont understand :/
https://api.eveonline.com/char/WalletTransactions.csv.aspx?keyID=[MYKEYID]&vcode=[MYVCODE]&characterID=[MYCHARID]
all this has done is give me a list of everything i brought and sold with times and amounts and who brought the items.
all i want from here is my profits in a chart, is there any way for me to break this information up in to what i want. ?
did i say im just learning and stuck ;/. |

To do what you want you may/probably will also need https://api.eveonline.com/char/WalletJournal.csv.aspx A good place to be able to see example of it and all the APIs have a look at https://neweden-dev.com/API. Note that everything there is about the XML version of the API which is what most people use. I would also suggest you look at using at least Access or better something like MySQL because you are going to be dealing with relationships that if even possible will be a lot more complicated to make in Excel then in a database which is made to do those things. Think of it like trying to use a screwdriver when you need a hammer, it might get the job done but it's going to be harder than it needs to be and the result aren't probably going to be as good. I'm just working with xml imports in Excel 2010, I hope the new Excel is doing it the same way.
If you want to import XML data of your account, from eve-central or whatever you want to have in your sheet, you need to use the "Import from Web" button. It's in "Data" - "from Web" (well actually I'm running a german version of Excel, so I just translated that into english and hopefully you still can find it ^^
If you found the right thing, a new window will pop up, if you click on that button in the menu. There you use the api-link to gather the informations. I don't know what happens if you use CSV instead of XML, maybe the data is stored in an extra file... If you use your links with .XML.aspx and everything is right, all data will be imported into your actual sheet and splitted into rows and columns, so you can work with it really nice ;)
After you have imported your stuff, you maybe need to write your own filter and functions to get sums, special parts or whatever you want. Have fun! |
